Making Healthy Life Choices At The Candy Store

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

As children, some of us might remember the trip to the candy store. While the old-fashioned candy stores that sold Snaps, Bun Bars, Horlick’s Malted Milk tablets and Teaberry gum may not be around anymore, we can purchase the sweets we crave online.

As adults, most of us want to make healthy life choices but we don’t want to give up our childhood candy-land dreams. A lot of us are nostalgic about candy. It represents a happier time in our lives when things were easy and life was carefree. But as adults we are watching our waistlines and trying to prevent Type II diabetes. The solution is to purchase sugarless, natural candies and chocolate.

Organic food trends

More people today are interested in organic choices for healthy living. It would be absurd to eat green algae, wheat grass and organic vegetables all day, only to snack on candy loaded with sugar and preservatives at night.

As part of a healthy lifestyle, select natural candy that contains no sugar. You don’t have to be diabetic to enjoy the benefits of sugarless foods.

Chocolate is not the enemy

Some people think they need to give up chocolate as part of a healthy lifestyle. But the opposite is true. Chocolate contains magnesium as well as antioxidants. The fat in chocolate is made from cocoa butter, which contains a heart-healthy form of monounsaturated fat called oleic acid.

Furthermore, chocolate contains healthy flavonoids that protect our cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Finally, as part of your healthy lifestyle, don’t just replace your regular candy with sugarless candy and chocolate. It’s also important to eliminate carbonated beverages from your diet. Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables throughout the day. Select organic and natural whole foods whenever possible.

And when it’s time for a sweet treat, savor every bite of sugar-free candy and luscious chocolate just like you did when you were a child.

World of Warcraft Gold Creating Guide

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

It can take a long time for World of Warcraft newbies to build up any amount of gold let alone a substantial amount. I started to look for ways to increase my gold amount in less amount of time. I came across a few World of Warcraft gold creating guides to learn some new tactics. One, in particular, speeded up the process of earning gold for me in a straight-forward manner.

I recently bought a World of Warcraft guide to make more gold. I wanted to talk a little about it as I was impressed with it overall. Now, I’ve known about these guides as well as buying gold for awhile now. As everyone who plays the game knows, there is nothing but spam concerning these gold sellers. I can’t stand them and I report them all the time. This is also illegal so I wanted to know where and how I could make more gold faster, legally, and without being scammed.

I believe I found the answer to my problem. I found a quality world of warcraft guide that showed me in a no-nonsense way how to make a lot more gold legally. There are really only 2 or 3 gold guides out there that are worth the time and money to invest in, but I think this one is the best.

I didn’t know what to make of it at first since it was written so simply, except that maybe it was another scam. But I had to stop judging it by its cover and dug into it. There is a lot of information contained within it and once I started reading, I knew this guide was on to something. As a veteran Warcraft player, I knew right away that these strategies would work. Some of these were so simple that I did the ol’ Homer Simpson hand slap to my head… Doh! . How did I ever miss that? It was ‘not-so-common’ common sense.

Seeing things like this, I loved it and knew I already had my money’s worth and I was not even 25% of the way through it. I had to keep reading and there is so much stuff that I couldnt get through it all in one night. I use it as a reference for gold making tips now. Once I started using its tips and strategies, I immediately added 50 gold to my coffers in less than 2 hours. The world of warcraft guide I use advertises 100 gold per hour but that is just relatively speaking. Some of these techniques bring in more and some bring in less gold than that.

Some of the ways to make gold are simple and some are much more involved so the timeframe varies according to how you want to make your money. The main point for me is that, you do make money. I was also given some very nice, useful bonuses too, including an Auctioneering and Fishing guide. I always wanted to know more about auction house cash too and this guide laid it all out for me.

I really like this guide. The author is a regular player for one. The guide also opens up your mind to other possibilities which aren’t even included. A book that makes you think…hmmmm. The author lends support, an affiliate program, and updates for life. In addition, it is useable by all levels 1-70 and is constantly updated to include Burning Crusade strategies. The $37 I spent for this guide was money well spent and I can now make my own gold quicker anytime I want to. I have to say Thanks to the author for putting this out.

Teaching Children Independence and Responsibility

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

Do you remember that phase in your child’s life when all you heard was I want to do it! ? You’re in a hurry, and you want to help your child get dressed, but your two or three year old will have no part of that. You must wait for 15 minutes while she masters the socks and shoes. Your helpful child, at this age, wants to take out the trash, put away the silverware, bake cookies, and clean the bathroom. What on Earth happens to this independent child?

Not all children, but many, shift into a new phase. Picking up their toys is a dreadful task. Playing is so much more important than doing homework. Getting them to hang up their coat or make their bed is like pulling their two front teeth. In the teenage years, you get another glimpse of independence, but it’s not exactly in the areas you might want. Teenagers insist they have all their academics, social relationships, and life in general, under control. You may think differently, but who are you? To a teenager, you’re just an old fashioned and unintelligent parent.

Regardless of what children may want or think they need, parents have a job to teach responsibility and independence. It is a lifelong commitment that isn’t always so easy, but here are some tips to keep you on track.

Encourage Independence by Refusing to Step In

When your child reaches an age to take on an age-appropriate activity, show your child how to do it, then let go and let your child struggle. It can be hard to watch children fight with their shoelaces, or stumble over their words in a new friendship, but it is in these moments that children are learning. The joy they feel when they gain a little more independence can be very rewarding, and a strong motivator to try new tasks in the future.

Believe in Your Child

Children need to know you believe in them. Encourage your children with positive words such as, You are a smart girl. You can figure this out. Teach your children to think positively about themselves by modeling this behavior in yourself. The Little Blue Engine didn’t give up and the reward was confidence. Confidence builds on itself, and your child will gain greater self esteem when you encourage independence and responsibility.

Build in Life Skills through Routines

Routines give your child practice and repetition. If, for instance, the after school routine includes putting away the lunch box and coat, having a snack, and doing homework, your child learns responsibility as a way of life. If you want your child to have good personal grooming skills, build brushing hair and teeth, and washing face into a morning and bedtime routine. When a child does the same thing over and over, he learns independence without even thinking about it.

Let Children Fall Down and Experience the Consequences

Resist the urge to be a helicopter parent and hover over your child. Life is full of opportunities to succeed and make mistakes. The lesson is reinforced and learning takes place when children are allowed to make mistakes. If your child makes a bad choice, let him experience the natural or imposed consequences. A D or an F on an exam sends a very clear message that the child needs to study harder. The effect is not the same when you are hounding your child to study so she doesn’t fail. When your child makes the choice to extend his curfew by an hour, he loses the privilege of going out the next weekend. Guaranteed he will think twice before staying out late the next time.

Coach your Children towards Independence and Responsibility

When your child is faced with a future or past decision, ask a lot of open ended questions that encourage your child to think for himself. What do you think you should say to your friend? What could you have done differently in this situation? Giving advice teaches your children what you want and what you think is best. Coaching your children supports them in developing good decision making skills, and honoring what is best for them. It’s okay if they don’t make the best choice. Live and learn.

The goal in raising children is not to protect them from pain or undesirable circumstances, but to equip them with what they need to be responsible, independent and resilient adults.

Vocational Training Schools

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

Education is important in landing a good job. This is because technology or advances in any profession happen and that person has to pass an exam and get a license.

Take for instance someone who wants to be an electrician. A company will not hire a worker unless the applicant knows how to gadgets and equipment. This is to protect the firm, the individual and the client should something happen.

An example of such as place that can give adequate training is the Bay State School of Technology located in Massachusetts. The individual can choose from a variety of programs such as servicing major appliances, domestic and commercial refrigeration or air conditioning and computer electronics.

People who love cars and reside in New Jersey can try enrolling in a course either in automotive repair or service at the Essex County Vocational Technical School. The person will get to know about basic safety in operating an automobile, disassembly, overhaul and replacing parts.

The graduates of such places can work at the local automotive shop or join the ranks of employees powering America’s car industry in factories such as Ford or General Motors all across the country.

Women can also benefit from vocational training schools. Those who have a passion for cooking and want to learn more can study culinary arts. The California Culinary Academy based in San Francisco, California will teach the student the basics of baking to making full course meals.

Those who want to learn more can upgrade to hotel and restaurant management so the person can be promoted to the rank of head chef in a major hotel chain.

If the woman loves to draw, there is always room for those who want to excel in the field of fashion. Since the big apple is where the action is, the person should check out the Wood Tobe-Coburn School in New York.

The student will learn about pattern making, design, drawing up to the point of marketing and launching the collection.

There are a lot of vocational courses to choose from. Those who are unable to get to a certain school because it is too far should ask if distance learning is possible. If the individual needs to work, there is no harm in asking if this can be done part time.

The vocational school is there to help people achieve a dream. People who want to get something better out of life should check it out and see where it takes the person.

Home Remedies for the Common Cold

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

Most people have their own home remedies for the common cold. Some of these can be supported by scientific research. Researchers are still trying to find out how to cure the common cold, but in all likelihood, there will never be a cure, only a treatment.

Chicken soup? Chicken contains selenium, an important trace element for proper immune system function and overall good health. If you ask someone how to cure the common cold and they recommend chicken soup, it is probably because they know that it makes them feel better. The warm soup soothes the throat. The steam can temporarily decongest the nose, making it easier to breathe. Adding onions, garlic and pepper, some other home remedies for the common cold, can increase this effect. Plus, these spicy additions are easier to taste and smell. Both of these senses are slightly diminished by common cold symptoms.

Honey and lemon tea? Lemon juice is a good source of vitamin C, which is important for proper immune system function. Herbal teas, made from mullein, sweetened with honey and lemon can be very soothing to the throat and can temporarily open clogged breathing passages. Horehound tea can also be used to relieve coughs. Green tea has been the subject of a number of studies and has been shown to effectively increase energy and metabolism. Honey should not be given to small children.

Orange juice? Another good source of vitamin C, juices and fluids are frequently used home remedies for the common cold and increased fluids are typically recommended by doctors and other health care professionals to reduce the likelihood of becoming dehydrated. Research about how to cure the common cold indicates that vitamin C supplementation may reduce the duration of cold symptoms.

Steam baths and humidifiers? While inhaling steam may reduce congestion temporarily, there is no evidence that it reduces duration of symptoms. Some experts believe that a dry nose is more susceptible to viral infection. But, using a room humidifier or sitting in a steamy bathroom may not relieve symptoms. Researchers looking for an answer to how to cure the common cold found that the rhinovirus and other common cold viruses are more active in lower humidity, which may be one of the reasons that people have more colds in the winter months, when humidity is lower. But, these viruses thrive in the warm and moist conditions that are always present in the nose.

Rest? Rest is always important to human health, but particularly so during viral infections. One of the often recommended home remedies for the common cold is to rest in bed. Whether or not bed rest reduces the duration of a cold has not been studied, but is still recommended by doctors and other experts. Some people maintain that how to cure the common cold is to spend the day in bed. Certainly, this is a common cold remedy that has no side effects; it can’t hurt you.

Just Write: Wherever You Are

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

There was a time when you needed to relocate if you wanted to become a successful writer. In essence you went where the work was.

The Internet has opened a whole new world for writers. The idea of telecommuting has become a welcome component to the mechanism of freelance.

Today you can sit in a kitchen in Iowa and write for a publication based in the heart of New York. You can write for a firm in Australia from the comfort of your home office in Ontario. You can also write for clients from any point on the globe while wearing your sweats.

There is still a need for local writers to cover local events, but freelancers tap into the human experience and pass that information along in a way that can defy time zones.

The truth is there is a growing acceptance of freelance writers for both print and cyber content. I suppose one of the primary reasons has to do with the cost-effective nature of relying on freelance writing. As publishing businesses have worked to streamline operations they have come to rely more on freelancers who can provide copy on an ‘as needed’ basis. For the freelancer this provides a sense of personal freedom and income. The benefit for the publisher is in not paying a full time writer when their may not be enough work to warrant their employment.

More Reasons to Hire a Freelance Writer

1) You don’t have to pay freelancers overtime.
2) You don’t have to pay freelancers sick leave.
3) You don’t have to provide benefits to freelancers.
4) You can pay a freelance writer well and still pay less than a full-time counterpart.
5) Most freelancers are eager to please and will likely provide their best work. If they don’t, you have the satisfaction of knowing there are many other freelancers available.

Reasons to Become a Freelance Writer

1) You set your own hours.
2) You can always refuse to work with a hard to please client.
3) You can work as much or little as you want.
4) A happy client not only returns, but they often bring referrals.
5) If you need time off, you only need to ask yourself.

The possibilities for a freelance writer seem to expand each day. The need for content from writers is huge and even the start of a part-time freelance business may provide a better income than you could have imagined. There’s no doubt that it’s hard work, but it’s also doing something you already love to do.

Softball In Disney - My Daughter’s Comeback (March 2006)

April 30th, 2008 by monasterio2355

It’s the end of March, 2006. The trip to Disney to play in a tournament has finally arrived. My daughter Manteee and her team of Indian Hills Braves from Oakland New Jersey is about to take on a team from Livingston New Jersey. Livingston and Oakland are about 20 miles apart. So what that we traveled 1500 miles to play each other.

The top of the first inning for Livingston.

While watching Livingston practice I said to myself. “Hey - it looks like these girls can play.” Livingston gets a few runners on base and then there is a hot grounder right at my daughter. She errs and a run scores. My Manteee is not looking so good. Two batters later with the bases loaded for Livingston, another grounder is hit to my daughter with the same results as the previous ball in the dirt. Manteee goes to her right and boots the ball.

As two runners crossed the plate I shifted my attention from my daughter to the coach. He was livid. The first inning ends with Livingston in front 3-0. This was the low point of the trip for my daughter. She did not play again in this game. The coach yanked her and had her sit the bench.

As I watched the game my thoughts were about Manteee as I observed the field. I often gazed into the dugout to see how my daughter was doing. It seemed like she was hiding. When I got a rare glimpse of her, she looked like she had lost her best friend. This was a low point to say the least.

Next game had different results.

Back at her position at second base my Manteee seemed to be apprehensive about what could happen. Her fears and concerns soon subsided. In the first inning another team from New Jersey hit two balls her way. She played them well and threw out both runners.

As the game moved on more balls were hit her way. A dozen chances at least. Maybe two or three hard plays had to be made. She handled all the plays and Indian Hills won the game.

After the game assistant coach Phil Lemenza said. “Sammi is my hero. After playing a horrible game she came back strong.” (My wife and I are the only ones that call her Manteee - everyone else calls her Sammi)

To say I am proud of her is an understatement. She fights; she claws and never gives up.

She is my hero as well. That’s why she is one of my top ten favorite players of all time.

Please pass this on to your friends.

The great game of baseball. What could be better? Loving the game of baseball for Aron Wallad has been a job of joy for a long time. Discover Online Discount Coupon Codes - Why Pay Retail!

April 29th, 2008 by monasterio2355

Clever Internet shoppers continue to improve their search tactics of the broad directory of online retailers with the focus of finding the best price on the product or service they are interested in purchasing. At the same time, online retailers are doing their best to bring those shoppers to their store. How you ask? With online discount coupon codes. Countless premier online retailers, travel companies, and merchants providing consumer services, grant coupon promotional codes to online partners (advertisers) to place on their web site for their visitors.

So where do you find a web site that will provide you with a direct link to all of these discounts? The discount coupons will often be hosted on partner web sites as a method of advertising for the store or retailer. The coupon links may offer either a percentage off the sale price, free shipping, a free gift with purchase or in some cases, a combination of all.

Discount coupons for free shipping can save the shopper a generous amount of money for shopping directly with the retailer’s warehouse location as compared with shopping traditional brick and mortar stores. In other words, they pass the handling savings onto you!

Percentage off promo codes can be as high as 50%, with deals such as $25 off a $50 purchase. Almost all online retailers have a space to enter a promotion or discount coupon code generally during the final check-out process.

So how do I shop with online coupon codes? Launch your favorite search engine directory and execute a search for the specific coupon you are looking for, i.e., merchant name + coupon code or promo code . There will be thousands of results, so it is up to you to access which coupon offers are current. Bookmark those web sites which offer up-to-date discounts for future shopping and for sharing the coupon site with your family and friends.

After you find the coupon you would like to use, click on the link provided and shop the merchant’s site. Take note, if a coupon code is provided with the link, you will need to enter this code during the final steps at check-out. If there is no code provided, then the discount is embedded in the link and will be applied automatically for you. Coupon offers are subject to change and can expire at anytime. Verify that the savings have been applied to the shopping cart before finalizing your purchase.

Online promotions and discount coupon codes will often change weekly with most offers changing monthly. Holidays, special occasions, i.e. the beginning of the school year, will increase the number of online coupon offers available on partner sites and often prompt other merchants whom rarely offer online incentives to review their current promotions and advertising strategies. The months of October, November, and December are also the busiest shopping months of the year, so expect an increase in coupon code offers and promotions.

Always look on your favorite partner site for new discounts before you complete that next online purchase, and remember to share those sites and savings with your family and friends.

Sharon Roof is an IT Specialist and founder of 1Stopmarketplace. For up-to-date online promotions for hundreds of merchants, travel partners, and consumer services, visit www.1stopmarketplace.com http://www.1stopmarketplace.com . Coupon code offers are updated daily.

Internet Merchant Certifications For Small And Home Based Businesses

April 29th, 2008 by monasterio2355

How do you distinguish your website from all the other ones out there? And how do you get your customers to believe that you operate a serious business where they can feel comfortable shopping? Well the standard is increasingly turning to various forms of merchant certifications and seals of approvals for websites. But which one is right for you?

There are plenty of organizations out there that offer all kinds of certifications. Most of them are however very expensive or they only certify security of transactions or verify actual incorporation. In other words for most home based or new businesses there are not a lot of certification options out there. There are some exceptions of services though that focuses on giving a Seal of Approval to websites based on a good service history and other qualifications geared to the small and home based internet business rather than the large corporation.

An example of this type of certification is IBCIM.ORG, The International Bureau of Certified Internet Merchants. They operate the Merchant Certified Seal of Approval program where internet businesses from any country or industry can obtain a Seal of Approval to display on their website. The Seal is linked to an Instant Verification Page where the website’s customers can instantly go and verify membership and the certification status of the business. A seal such as this one is a powerful tool to enable businesses to compete online.

The bottom line for small businesses is to find way to stand out from the crowd and initiate that first sale which is precious when you are starting out. And the only way to do that is to make sure that your visitor is comfortable shopping on our site. In other words they have to trust you.

To learn more about an internet merchant certification visit www.ibcim.org http://www.ibcim.org .
