In order to run a profitable business in the competitive world today, it is very essential for a business to have instant access to clients, information and potential future liasons. The dependibility on computers has increased to a point that any transaction without the invlovement of the technology is unimaginable.

Computers have opened up new vistas that have made it possible for many small amd medium scale industries and regional applications to go global. The amount of business that can be generated is not comprehendable and the prospects are not countable.

However, with the application of the technology also comes the dedicated services that are a part of the interal complexities of the system and much needed to ensure that the show goes on and that too, uninterrupted.

The technology of load balancing is primarily applied to increase the existent capacity of a dedicated ’server farm’. This application is usually accessible beyond any single server. The technology also enables the user specific access service to remain operational and continue to funtion, despite the limitations such as server down time, failure of the server or a technical snag within the server maintenance.

The solutions:

Load balancing also involves the operations and funtions of the virtual servers. The virtual servers or vservers or VIPs, implement the availability of a specific IP address and a dedicated IP port. The physical services comprise of the content within the physical server IP address and dedicated IP port.

The load balancing solutions include the practical application of many different Internet or dedicated ISP links. These could be both, inbound and outbound. There is a Link Proof solution that provides and ensures consistent Internet access. The package includes bandwidth management and specific ‘intrusion prevention’.

The application is available in a single and easy-to-manage box. The other solutions include load balance routers and cable modums or DSL. It is possible for the user to select a router dedicated load balancing solution. There are a number of technical specifications and application drawings that can be accessed on the Internet.

The optimization:

Load balancing solutions for servers optimize the operations that fall within the design and parameters of the server. The solutions ensure the availability of quality application twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The solutions ensure efficient and timely web traffic distribution. They also take care of prioritization and user specific intrusion prevention that is multi-gigabit in nature.

The load balancing solutions are dedicated towards optimizing precision and quality with every application. The industry strives to ensure that the solutions are targeted at meeting the specific requirements of the end user. The application of the solutions enhance the results desired and make the entire experience worth the money and effort.

By its name alone, the Mediterranean diet attracts a lot of current and would be dieters due to its exotic name. But what is it exactly? One concern of the Mediterranean diet is that it allows 40% fat consumption compared to the 30% of the American Heart Association. Let’s go into more detail as it seems a waste to just let it go without giving it a fair reading.

The Mediterranean diet evolved from the respective diets of countries surrounding the Mediterranean basin. Among the countries surrounding the basin are the south of France, southern Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Cyprus. Originally introduced by American doctor Ancel Keys, the diet failed to gain popular recognition until the 1990’s. Based on scientific data, people around the Mediterranean basin had lower rates of cardiovascular disease compared to Americans who, for all intents and purposes, consumed the same relative amount of fat. One possible explanation is the presence of olive oil and red wine. Olive oil lowers cholesterol levels in the blood while red wine contains flavonoids. Flavonoids are anti-oxidants that also help the body when dealing with allergenic material, viruses and cancer causing agents.

Another contributing factor to a European’s better health could be the fact that they tend to walk more than Americans do. Questions have also been raised as to whether the Mediterranean diet contributes enough iron and calcium to the diet. Green vegetables and goat cheese have been found to contribute these nutrients respectively.

The thing about the Mediterranean diet is that its foods are often rich and tasty thanks to olive oil. Normally, margarine and hydrogenated oils lack the flavor that olive oil gives out. Another part of the diet is regular but moderate consumption of red wine. Saturated fat consumption is low as opposed to high amounts of monounsaturated fat and dietary fiber. This is due to the fact that the diet includes big servings of fruits, vegetables, breads, cereals, olive oil and fish.

In comparing the food pyramid of the United States against the Mediterranean diet, people of the Mediterranean consumed fruits, vegetables and grain just as Americans do. The main difference lies in the fact that Americans consume more red meat. Consumption of cold water fish is also prominent in the Mediterranean diet. This results in reduced risks of heart disease, cancer and improved immune system functions. Compared to the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) pyramid, the Mediterranean diet contains little saturated and trans fat that raise cholesterol in the blood. The USDA’s pyramid does not differentiate from healthy and unhealthy fats.

Characteristically speaking, the Mediterranean diet has high consumption of olive oil. Breads, cereals, fruits and vegetables likewise have a high rate of consumption in the diet. Fish and poultry as well as wine are moderately consumed while eggs and red meat are rated as very low in consumption.

The problem with most diets is that they tend to be extreme. Some diets, like the vegetarian diet, limit a person to just eating fruits, tofu, yogurt and vegetables. Other diets would require high protein intake while severely limiting intake of the other food groups. Like a user friendly computer, the Mediterranean diet does not go to extremes to achieve a desired result. The diet allows for consumption of tasty foods. This allows the dieter to actually enjoy the gastronomic delights normally prohibited by other diets. A solid testament to this fact rests on the presence of wine in the diet.

The most surprising aspect of the Mediterranean diet is that fat is regarded as a healthy dietary component. Keep in mind that it is the fat that gives food most of its flavor. Two substances, omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats, are considered to be healthy and are not restricted in the diet. Olive oil, canola oil and nuts are good sources of monounsaturated fat while fish, vegetables and nuts contain the healthy omega-3 acids. Saturated fats and trans fat, on the other hand are considered to be unhealthy as they contribute to heart disease. Red meat, butter cheese and milk are sources of saturated fat while processed foods contain hydrogenated oils from which trans fat comes from.

From what has been written so far, and from all the sources and references where this article was taken from, the Mediterranean diet comes highly recommended by health professionals. The Mediterranean diet maintains a healthy but tasty, smorgasbord of delicious foods with which you can maintain a healthy diet without the need to sacrifice flavor and variety. While we appreciate the people who struggle and strive to come up with healthy diets, good food carries more weight in our stomachs.

Scrubbing and abrasives should be avoided. Experts have said that they irritate the skin, which should be left intact as a natural barrier against the acne-causing bacteria.

It is not yet known exactly what causes adult acne, but several dermatologists link adult acne to hormone fluctuations. Acne in a woman is often linked to her menstrual cycle. Women with premenstrual acne outbreaks, such as pimples on the lower face and neck, seem to respond particularly well to treatment with medications that either reduce or block androgen production. You can forgo the androgen blocking hormones by properly consuming essential fatty acids such as those found in salmon and olive oil.

It is important to exfoliate. This helps remove the dead skin cells, to maintain a healthy and glowing skin. A mild cleanser will help exfoliate the face after washing. Scrubbing will also help exfoliate the face, which can be done once or twice a week. This procedure will aid in reducing dead layers skin cells that clog the pores, reason why more pimples or acne.

Topical retinoid acid, a modified form of vitamin A has been a great improvement. Improved versions of this medicine greatly reduce the irritation it can cause. Other acne treatments are sometimes used in combination. Such acne treatments include Azelaic acid cream, Benzoyl peroxide, Alpha-hydroxy acids (such as lactic acid, glycolic acid and gluconic acid), antibiotic pills (of used unwisely, they can lead to antibiotic resistance), topical antibiotics (gels, lotions and solutions), contraceptive pills for women, and Sotret or Accutane for severe acne. Accutane and Sotret have several side effects, including birth defects. Women with severe acne problems that choose these treatments should use alternative birth control.

Unlike the small whitehead pustules that most people with acne experience on the surface of their skin, cystic acne appears as large irritated bumps, often with the pustule hidden deep beneath the skin’s surface. These cysts are caused when hormonal shifts result in your skin glands overproducing oil (sebum) at an unnatural rate. The gland becomes swollen and eventually bursts, but not before the sebum has swelled and hardened into a clump too large to escape through your pores. The irritation from your gland bursting results in inflammation, and buried pustule can remain in your skin for a very long time.

In the past, you could only have a peel in the dermatologist’s office. Now there is a home treatment alternative. Esthetician’s Choice is a medical grade peel that you can use in the comfort of your home. The main ingredient is Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) which is considered to be the most effective skin peel product on the market. TCA is a non toxic chemical that has been used by dermatologists for over 30 years to treat acne and other skin conditions.

There are two types of ceremonies available; religious and non-religious. Irrespective of which type is chosen, the common theme throughout is love and surrounding the child with family and friends in order to celebrate the child’s birth and life ahead.

Religious Ceremonies:

A Christening is the child’s first initiation into the religious faith. At a Catholic Christening, the parents make their declarations, the baby is baptized with holy water, and a lit candle representing Jesus as the light of the world, is given to the parents and Godparents. The priest may ask the parents to attend preparation classes to fully understand the significance of a baptism. Catholic Christenings are often held as a separate service for one or more child, without hymns and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

In a Church of England Christening, the Christening takes place within the main Sunday church service and the baby is taken to the font, sprinkled with holy water, and the Godparents and parents promise God they will bring the child up in the Christian faith.

If you decide to go for a Christening, you need to speak to the vicar at your local church. They will explain the service, and may ask questions concerning your own faith, and that of the godparents. You will then be able to book a date.

Secular (Non-Religious) Ceremonies:

There are a range of non-religious celebrations to choose from including a Baby-Naming Ceremony, Welcoming or Thanksgiving. These options are free of any commitment to the Christian faith. A British Humanist Association ceremony can take place anywhere you like. A trained, licensed celebrant will help you to create a unique and personal occasion. They can provide templates for ceremonies that you can adapt for your own situation, and they can suggest readings, poetry or music. You can include contributions from family/friends, and finish it all off with a tea or buffet. These ceremonies last on average 20 minutes.

Christenings are generally held within the first year of a baby’s life, although some parents wait until the child is a little older.

Generally, photography is welcome during all types of ceremonies but it may be worth checking with the person presiding first as the congregation or gathering is likely to be invited to photograph the child, family and Godparents at specific points during the ceremony. Of course there can also be photographs before and after.

The child will usually be dressed in a special Christening outfit/gown or family heirloom garment. Women would be expected to dress smartly - hats are not necessary, and for men, suits or smart shirt and trousers. Ties are often not a necessity, particularly for summer ceremonies though if you are the father or Godfather, you would be expected to dress in a suit.

Usually following the ceremony a buffet or tea is held at the parent’s house. The child will be shown off to all the family and friends, and Christening gifts are generally presented to the child. After the buffet, the official cake may be cut, and at this point, some people choose to plant a tree or dedicate a plant which will grow with the child.

Role of the Godparents:

There are usually three Godparents - two the same sex as the child. The role of the Godparent comes from the days when converts to the early Christian church were usually adults whose parents were not Christians. The Godparents role was to provide a Christian mentor to help them through life. People also link the role of the Godparent with that of becoming ‘legal guardian’ should the child ever be orphaned. However, this would need to be written into a will with the permission of the Godparents themselves. Non-religious participants usually engage a ‘mentor’ who will watch over the child and steer them through life with help, care and advice. Generally Godparents are chosen for their own Christian beliefs but also because they are very close friends of the parents, or family members. Godparents or guardians should be people who are going to be around to offer support for the child if needed.

Christening Gifts:

Many people prefer a traditional gift idea for a Christening such as pewter, silver or china; these are great gifts for the child to treasure. Another nice idea is to provide a photo album or keepsake box to store precious memories of the child’s special day. For religious ceremonies it is common for a silver cross and chain or a bible to be presented to the child. Personalised gifts also make very nice ideas for this occasion, for example a framed name print, or a personalised Christening plate or mug, or perhaps an engraved tankard or cufflinks for a boy.

Eyebrows - Tips For Tweezing: To minimize the pain, numb the eyebrow area first either with a baby’s teething pain preparation or numbing toothache preparation or even a little ice.

The hair can be softened first with a hair conditioner or shaving cream.

Steam your eyebrows with a hot washcloth for five minutes or tweeze right after a hot shower to open the pores so the hair comes out more easily.

Invest in a professional pair of tweezers so you have a clean, sharp pair each time. If you are serious about tweezing, buying a good quality pair is essential.

Use natural light wherever possible.

First clean up the area between the eyebrows by plucking any stray hairs.

Pull the skin taut and remove hairs as close as possible to the root.

Pluck in the direction of the growth.

Shape your eyebrows by plucking from underneath rather than from above to create a natural arch.

To close the pores of the skin after plucking, use an astringent or soothe irritated skin by applying warm petroleum jelly.

Shaping: 3 Steps

1. First thin the eyebrow, then slowly define the arch. The arch should reach the highest point above the middle of the iris.

2. To determine where the eyebrows should begin and end, hold a pencil vertically against the nose. Where the pencil meets the eyebrow above the nose should be the starting point.

3. Next, with the pencil still held against the nose, tilt it diagonally so that it rests against the far corner of the eye. That is the outer point where the eyebrow should end.

Changing the Shape

To avoid tweezing into a shape you later regret, first use a white eyeliner pencil to color in the areas under your eyebrows which you think should be plucked.

If you don’t like the shape, remove the white eyeliner and redraw. Once your are satisfied with the shape, tweeze the hairs in the white area.

Mike Jones is a writer and webmaster with over 10 years experience. His recommendation: Recommendation: To reduce the need for tweezing eyebrows, apply Kalo Hair Inhibitor Lotion with a cotton swab right after tweezing. This significantly reduces the hair growth.

How long does it take to get a book published?

On the average about a year. Six months to write a nonfiction book or revise a novel after a publishing contract has been signed and six months for production from editing the manuscript to finding your book in a bookstore.

Why does production take six months?

The actual production process of revising and editing, copyediting and proofing the galleys could be quicker. But enough time has to be allowed for obtaining endorsements, distributing ARCs (advanced reading copy) and bound galleys to reviewers and promoting the book to booksellers, libraries and such. Many major review publications like Publishers Weekly, insist that they receive the review copy at least four months prior to publication. Many newspapers will not review a book currently available.

What is the typical advance and royalty?

There isn’t one. The advance can range from $0 to over six figures. Royalties can range from 5% to 15%, based on the net price the publisher receives to retail. The percentage can also be on a sliding scale based on how many books have been sold, the more books, the higher the royalty percentage.

Do I have to pay the advance back?

In most cases, no, only if you don’t deliver an acceptable manuscript by your deadline. If the actual sales of your book don’t reach the amount that was advanced, and 90% of books don’t, you don’t have to pay the difference back.

Which is easier to get published fiction or nonfiction?

Nonfiction. Of the 150,000 books less than 10% were fiction.

What category of fiction is the largest.

Romance, 55% of all mass market paperback books sold are romances.

What is backlist, mid list and front list?

Backlist books are those written in the prior year(s) but still selling and still being published. Publishers select a small percentage, probably less than 5% of the books published in a season and actively promote those books in the front of their catalogues with full page descriptions including national promotion, book tours dates, advertising budgets, first print runs, as their front list. 95% of books published are mid list, in the middle of the catalogue, no ad budget, no promotions, no book tours.

What is the difference between mass market, trade paperback and hard cover?

The way the books are produced and consequently how they’re priced. Mass market are the smallest in size usually 4″ by 6″, they are the least expensive from $4.99 to $9.99, the binding is perfect which means the pages are glued in. The cover is paper. Trade paperback is 5″ by 7″, mostly nonfiction titles, the prices range from $9.99 to $24.99. The cover is paper and the binding is perfect. Hardcover or hard back comes in various sizes, the pages are stitched to the binding, and the cover is cloth covered over cardboard. The price ranges from $19.99 upward.

Dogs are wonderful additions to a family and are often treated as well as human family members. They become your best friend, companion, or even your furry child. Learning how to care for these beloved pets, especially during the summer’s heat, is imperative to their good health and to lowering your veterinary bills.

Keep your dogs hydrated. Dogs can easily become dehydrated during the warm weather and it will happen more quickly depending on the thickness of their fur and their size. Smaller dogs dehydrate quicker than larger dogs. Keep the water bowl in a visible place, such as the kitchen, so every family member will remember to check its fullness during the course of the day. During hot weather you should refill it at least once a day with fresh water. If you are out walking, pack a cold water bottle just for your dog and stop often to encourage your dog to drink.

Limit exercise. Every vet will encourage dog owners to take dogs for a walk to encourage good health, strengthen their bones, and help keep their nails trimmed, but use common sense during the summer. Shorten the length of your walk or break up a long walk into two shorter sessions. And don’t encourage your dog to run for any length of time.

Be aware of the outside temperature and humidity. Do not forget that your beloved Fido is walking with a fur coat and will overheat easily. Walking in the early morning or late evening hours, when the sun is low in the sky, will often help keep dogs cooler.

Walk close to your house so if you sense your dog is having problems you can turn around or call for help. Hiking paths and paved trails are wonderful resources but you will be stuck if your dog collapses in the middle of a trail that doesn’t allow cars.

Take your dog’s age and overall health into consideration when planning activities outdoors. Older dogs will tire and dehydrate more easily than younger dogs and these changes can appear without warning. Dogs can also develop seasonal allergies which can in turn affect their breathing ability, so keep a close watch on older dogs that seem to pant excessively.

Check for ticks daily. Ticks are very small insects that often carry Lyme’s Disease and other tick borne illnesses. These microscopic insects are prevalent during the warm weather months in wooded areas or yards with tall grass and if they come in contact with your pet, they will bite the animal and make their way into your home. Obviously, ticks are more difficult to find on dogs with thick fur so really dig your fingers in to feel them and remove them carefully with tweezers.

Do not leave any dogs in a locked car. Even with open windows, cars can heat to well over 100 degrees very quickly, which can cause severe trouble for any pet.

Using your common sense with your dog during the summer will eliminate emergency visits to the vet and will eliminate any stress your dog may feel, making for a much happier family life.

Companies thrive on promotion. Most companies have their people on staff whose soul purpose is to crate promotions and promotional rewards.

These promotional rewards are similar to customer incentives in that they are trying to sell products to both new and loyal customer. But unlike some incentive programs which can sometimes take weeks, months, and in some cases even years to implement promotional incentives are designed to give a product an immediate boost in sales.

Grocery stores are probably the best example of an ongoing promotional incentive program. On Saturday’s they open their doors to food distributors who haul in tables, chairs, and boxes of toothpicks. These food hawkers set up mini stations in the middle of the aisle ways, and beam proudly as they hand out free samples of food.

The same grocery stores will set up points of purchase displays in the middle of the store promoting some item or other. They pin nutritional fact sheets to the displays and tuck little pamphlets containing recipes that use the promoted item. Theses little recipes always have the words, free, please take one, blazed across their gleaming covers.

The Sunday papers are full of coupons offering special buy one get one free deals that expire weeks later.

Hair products, shampoos and conditioners, like to offer free samples. They normally fasten tiny little bottles of a new product to the larger bottles of the tried and true product.

You normally don’t see a happy go lucky person standing in the middle of the local electronics store, offering little pieces of keyboards to customers to sample before you decide to buy the computer. Nor do you normally buy a package of blank CD’s and find a minuscule I-pod taped to the wrappers. Some promotions simply don’t work with some items. The electronic field likes to run their promotions in the form of rebates. When dealing with a rebate a customer pays full price for a product. Once they get it home they mail a rebate sticker and a copy of their receipt to the manufactures. The manufacture then mails a check for a predetermined amount. Most rebates have expiration dates so it’s important to mail them in as soon as possible.

Credit card companies often run promotional signing specials to encourage customers to apply for a credit card. These specials might be, guaranteed approval, no interest rate for the first few months of service, free theft protection, or a second card free.

Companies will often give an incentive so the customer doesn’t notice the high price of the product. Customers are so happy to be getting something for free they don’t always stop to consider how much they are spending on the product. Cell phones companies do this a lot. Customers are often so excited about the free phone they don’t notice how much they are spending activating the “free phone.” This is the type of promotional incentive that is often dubbed a gimmick.

Promotional incentives are easier to come by in some parts of the world. In some countries there are strict regulations on the way promotions can be run.
