Adopting an unwanted dog from an animal shelter can be a good idea for many people who want a dog. Some prospective dog owners are put off the idea because they believe that these canines are difficult animals, that they were only abandoned because of behavioural difficulties. In most cases, this is very far from the truth. Most dogs end up in a dog shelter for various reasons other than their own behaviour or personality. Common reasons are things such as the owners no longer have time to look after a dog, they’re moving from a house into an apartment, they owners are divorcing and neither of them can or want to take the dog, the owner dies or goes into a nursing home, the owner cannot afford the costs of owning a dog, or a new baby is expected and the dog doesn’t “fit in” to the new lifestyle. These dogs are good, well-trained, well-behaved and loyal pets and they are seeking a new home through no fault of their own.

Rescue dogs can be a very good choice for many people who simply don’t want the difficulties that training a young puppy can entail. It goes without saying that puppies need a lot of time and patience to house-train them, to socialize them, to teach them how to be a good dog in later life. In a rescue dog, you will find very often that this initial hard work has already been done, and you will be able to give a homeless dog a good home that he will truly appreciate.

It is of course necessary to bear in mind that some rescue dogs will have initial problems in adjusting to a new environment and a new lifestyle, they may need re-training or need to “un-learn” habits, but you will probably find that this is less work than the training a puppy needs in the first year of its life! An adult dog has the advantages of being calmer, and his looks, temperament and size will already be established and known.

If you are seriously considering adopting a homeless dog then the first thing to do is to find out as much as you can about the dog’s history. If he is in a shelter, the staff there will be able to tell you everything they know. If the dog is still with his owners, then ask them as many questions as possible to get an idea of where the dog came from and what life he has led, what training he has received and any medical history that is available. Find out the age of the dog if possible, if he has been house-trained, if he is used to children and other animals, if he happy travelling in the car. Has the dog been neutered, wormed and inoculated? Are there any on-going behavioural problems that you should be aware of? Make a list of questions and write some notes to help you remember any important points. It is important to bear in mind that a dog’s behaviour at a shelter may not be representative of his behaviour in your home. Try to see the dog at least a couple of times before deciding to adopt him, and take him for a walk on the lead if possible to see how he walks and how he responds to you on a one-to-one basis.

Once you have taken gone ahead and adopted your dog, begin straight away with consistent kind firmness. Establish the rules from the moment the dig enters your home so that he can learn what is expected of him. Remember he will be confused by his change of surroundings and may well miss his previous owners, the shelter staff or other dogs. If he has not been house-trained or is confused about what he should do in your home, start a firm but kind training schedule to teach him where he must toilet in the future. Positive reward-based training is the best course of action - be firm, consistent and above all, patient!

Make an appointment with your vet to have the dog examined and establish an inoculation schedule. Some behavioural problems and house-training difficulties can stem from medical problems, especially in older dogs, so your vet may be able to advise you about these too.

If this is your first dog, then read lots of books and articles about caring for and training your new friend. Search for different games and ways of interacting together that also build obedience, confidence and a bond between the two of you. With patience and understanding, rescuing a homeless dog can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life for both you and your dog.

In order to be biblically prudent and to build a marriagae on the foundation of truth, women must begin to ask themselves are they in line with the order of God. Does your present relationship follow the pattern of the Most High for a successful union?

The pattern of God for marriage begins in the book of Genesis. In the beginning, God created man and woman (Gen. 1:27). After man’s formation (Gen. 2:8), the Lord planted a garden where He placed man to dress and KEEP it (Gen. 2:15). Dress, in Hebrew, is defined as to work or to serve. Therefore, man’s first duty assigned by the Lord God was to WORK in the garden.

Secondly, he was to keep it which meant he was to guard and protect the garden and the inhabitants thereof. He was not only protecting the Lord God’s garden, but his home because this is where the Lord had placed him (Gen 2:8). Here is where many women of God have made their mistake in not understanding the pattern of God for marriage.

A man has to first have some form of work. Not necessarily a job, but work, something given unto him by God to do in the earth. In their search for love, women have been blinded by a romance and muscles and have overlooked the basics of manhood. God put man here to work and in order for a marriage to be successful, one of the prerequisites is that your fiance has to work. This leads us to the second stitch in the pattern. Your man has to have a place where HE keeps: lives, guards and protects.

Not his parents or your home, but his own. Concerning yourself with square footage is not important. What is important is that your fiance has experience in working, guarding and protecting as this is what he has to do for you. So many times, women have believed that in order to prove loyalty and love for him, that he can enter into the marriage any kind of way. Not true according to God’s Word. Allow your marriage the opportunity to succeed and begin sewing your relationship according to the pattern.

Antioxidants are becoming some of the most researched substances in health circles these days for good reason. They seem to be responsible for better quality of life, more energy, clearer skin, even tales of slowing the aging process. When free radicals and antioxidants are out of balance problems arise. Eating more dark-green, leafy vegetables, carrots, yellow and red fruits are strongly recommended. Some examples of antioxidant are Vitamins C, E, and Beta Carotene, to name just a few.

Some findings indicate that people who are low in antioxidants are more likely to develop arthritis and other diseases than those consuming higher amounts. Good sources of antioxidants are salmon, legumes, extra lean meat, leafy vegetables and colorful fruits.

Another important nutrient, the catechin shows they work well together with antioxidants, have fat burning and antibacterial qualities. In nature there are always numerous nutrients working together, and we are just scratching the surface deciphering those combinations. One thing is certain, you can never get too much of a good thing when it comes to antioxidants.

Supplements Are Necessary

Many dietary authorities agree we need to supplement with antioxidants. CoQ10 is one vitamin like supplement manufactured naturally in your body, but it’s never enough to combat the amount of free radicals you’re exposed to every day. Because of this daily free radical load, your best defense is to take antioxidants as a supplement as your food doesn’t provide enough.

Vitamin E has been an extremely popular antioxidant vitamin in recent years. Alpha-tocopherol is traditionally recognized as the most active form of vitamin E. It’s a fat-soluble vitamin in eight forms which is a much more powerful combination compared to any single form of Vitamin E. Vitamin C is important for the function of the immune system, tissue repair, and is also an antioxidant. It has been found that vitamin C can reduce cold symptoms because of its antiviral and antioxidant effects. Vitamin A is an antioxidant necessary for good vision and has also been shown to have a protective effect against cancer.

The Powerful Antioxidant List

* Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is derived from plant or animal tissue. Proanthocyanidin, or OPC, is another powerful antioxidant.

* Vitamin K was been approved for the treatment of osteoporosis in Japan in 1995.

* Milk thistle is a powerful antioxidant for liver protection and body detoxification.

* Green tea is the most powerful antioxidant beverage known today.

* Olivus olive leaf tea is a good tasting tea with powerful antioxidant, anti-virus, anti- bacteria and anti- fungus properties.

* The whole fruit puree of the Mangosteen fruit is a powerful natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

* Fermented Papaya is the new body antioxidant from Japan. Grape seed extract is another antioxidant that’s easy to take.

With this list of powerful antioxidants you can choose one or more to suit your budget and taste.

Which One is Best?

Of all the available antioxidants, Mangosteen seems to hold the most promise. Originally from South East Asia, Mangosteen is a highly revered botanical and the most expensive fruit at the market when it comes in season. It is used to combat numerous ailments by local Physicians and is the most prominent medicine in most Doctors kits there. Mangosteen can be found in a few health food stores but only one company makes the a puree with the whole fruit.

To get the full benefit from Mangosteen the juice must be made with the whole fruit, otherwise it’s healing potential is about the same as apple juice. There is one nutrient in Mangosteen that is not available anywhere else, the Xanthone. Keep your eyes and ears open for that nutrient… Xanthone. You’ll be hearing more about it soon enough.

Karen Myton discovered good health by accident in the early 80’s when she was first introduced to Aloe Vera. Health benefits were apparent right away, and 4 years later the results of a good immune system saved her life. In early 2006 she found that Aloe Vera had a super nutrient called a Xanthone. Imagine her surprise when at the same time, she discovered another Botanical source with 43 Xanthones! Wow… just imagine what 43 Xanthones can do!!

I have learned that not all time is the same quality. In times when I am very alert, rested, focused and efficient, I can be three to five times as productive as other times. My goal is to have more of these highly productive hours.

This harkens back to Stephen Covey’s Seventh rule of Highly Effective People - sharpening the saw. The vignette is of a wood cutter who is desperately sawing at a huge tree. A passerby asks the woodcutter why he does not sharpen the saw so he can cut more easily and quickly. The woodcutter replies, I don’t have the time, I have to cut the tree down.

Lately my life has been like that of the wood cutter. I have spent too much time sawing and not enough time sharpening the saw.

So my exercise today is to figure out what things sharpen the saw for me and plan to put those in my days and weeks first. Then allow the wood cutting to take the other time as opposed to the other way around. I call this Reverse Planning. Rather than planning what I have on my to do list and trying to get that done, I plan my down time and deliberately work to get that done.

This exercise is particularly good for highly driven people. Highly driven people tend to feel guilty if they are not working. So good things to put on the list are things that make you feel a bit guilty. Most of what I put on my list are things that I like to do a lot and if left unchecked would likely do too much.

For me, I think the following are my ways of sharpening my saw:

1 - Sleep. I tend not oversleep. I have pushed myself so hard for so long, I am not really sure how much sleep might help me be more productive. I am going to schedule 6-7 hours per night to see if that helps productivity.

2 - Exercise. I become resentful when I push so hard that I do not have time to work out. I will schedule one hour workouts 5 days per week and 2-3 hours once per week. For me this is also tied to sleep. If I push too hard, I end up choosing between sleep and working out. Not good.

3 - I will allow time for a 15-20 minute walk each evening. I find this clears my head.

4 - Tidying and Organizing. I know I like my environment more and am more productive if things are neat. I will schedule an hour per week plus 10 minutes per day on that.

5 - Social time. I will schedule a couple of evenings per week of social time.

6 - Intellectual challenge. I will play bridge, chess or sudoko 5 hours per week. (this tends to be guilt time for me as I enjoy it too much)

7 - Reading for pleasure. I will schedule a few hours to read for pleasure.

My list is not yet complete. I am still working on it. My challenge now is to stick to my reverse time plan and not allow myself to get caught up by the usual daily volume.

The internet is one of the many children of modern technology. To most individuals, the internet serves various benefits for them. With the internet loaded with different types of information, people seek answers to several questions in mind through the web. It is not solely information that the internet brings you; it can also bring you entertainment. There are a lot of entertainment items featured over the net - there are web games, videos to view, chat rooms and other forms of diversion.

While most people appreciate the internet, there are some people who loathe the internet. Perhaps the few people who detest the internet are the ones who do not have a full grasp of the advantages one can obtain from using the web.

From here Jim Edwards enter. He undertakes one important goal - to help people be familiar with the internet so that it will be utilized in its optimum purpose. He likes to see people succeed in the internet marketing field.

If you wish to do well in the internet marketing field, you need to come up with a good web site. Creating a web site is a task wherein you have to exert more effort, a lot of patience and extract your creativity juices.

Out of Jim Edwards’ Ten Commandments on making a web site, three factors seem to be extremely indispensable.

Establish a purpose.

Purpose is a desired result to achieve something wherein it is always kept in mind every time an action is performed. What is your website for? That should be your initial question. List all the possible answers you can come up with and segregate the important ones.

Make your own vision and mission. Let it be your guide in establishing your purpose why you have thought of creating a web site.

Create for your audience.

These days, people want to have user-friendly gadgets because it simplifies their life. Make a simple, user-friendly website wherein people will find it easy to navigate and learn more about what you want them to be familiar with.

Yes, you may be an expert but put your feet into your audience’s shoes so that you will know what their needs and wants are. Remember, the web site is not solely for you to view and utilize. Go back to what your purpose is.

Make Things Simple.

“Simplicity is beauty,” they say. This phrase will serve great help to you. Design your website in such a way that it draws attention and will make your visitors want to come back every so often. You can forget about flashy colors in your design which is distracting to the eyes. Choose a color scheme that is friendly to the eyesight.

Keep your pictures minimal. Select pictures which are extremely important to your audience.

Text-wise, always make it standard. Use appropriate types of fonts as well as font sizes. If you wish to deviate with the standard, make certain that it will be beneficial to your target market. Most importantly, make certain that the end result is good.

Purpose, being audience-sensitive, and simplicity are three factors which are exceptionally beneficial to keep your web site up and running.

The internet, it may be a product of modern technology yet the system itself can be kept trouble-free if the people running the system have a goal like Jim Edwards - to let people have a grasp of the many benefits of internet.

There are several alternative treatment options available to the parents of children correctly diagnosed with ADHD or ADD. Attention Deficit Disorder or that with Hyperactive tendencies are a set of mental illnesses that are routinely mis diagnosed.

This is due to the fact that many of the symptoms of ADHD and ADD are considered by many normal characteristics in growing kids. The challenge to develop any treatment options therefore is to accurately determine the degree of hyperactivity that pushes someone over the edge of normalcy and into the realm of a mental disorder.

One thing that you should be aware of is that the medical community is not in full agreement about ADHD in general or the use of some treatment options. There are those that believe that mediation used to treat this disorder have unacceptable risks. Another important factoid is that the treatment of all but the most pronounced mental disorders and diseases is a relatively new frontier.

Not in the sense of age as we’ve been working to find treatment options for all mental disorders for decades. But it’s more a frontier in the sense of understanding the causation and our ability to measure the severity of the problem. This is why jumping to an aggressive treatment option may not be in the best interest of the child that’s been diagnosed with ADHD or the family involved

If you have a child who has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD for short, there are another of options open for treatment. The most common ADHD treatments usually involve as their biggest part the use of drugs like Ritalin or Dexedrine. On the street, these are known as Speed or methanphetamines.

Other treatment options for ADHD involve therapy and counseling for not only the one identified as having the ADD problem but also the whole family and especially the parents. Counseling can be used to help better identify emotional disturbances, and can assist with teaching the kid some study skills and organizational skills.

Note that teaching study skills etc. is normal stuff that should be done by parents. For many children however, because of the lack of parenting skills, the kid is diagnosed as having the problem.

The problem is that many ADHD treatments address the physiological part of the condition and ignore every other part. This is a problem, because ADHD children have trouble forming strategies to organize their lives and so they need, in addition to the drugs, some coaching in study skills that other students may be able to learn on their own. It is not enough just to medicate as an ADHD treatment option alone.

There are a number of other options that should also be considered. The most popular one at the moment is to have your child tested for allergies. Food allergies have been known to cause many problems for growing children and could be a root cause of ADHD as well.

Another option is to explore the use of natural remedies. vitamins and minerals may help keep your child off the pharmaceutical industries profitable drugs. Understand if needed, fine, but so many times, there are alternative options that work without the use of expensive drug solutions.

Other people recommend meditation techniques as ADHD treatment options. They say that the best way to treat ADHD is to take advantage of the mind’s natural flexibility and to rework the way it runs through self programming. Through daily meditation, focus, relaxation, and an end to the anxiety that is so common with ADHD sufferers.

Abigail Franks writes on a variety of subjects which include family, health, and education. Do you enjoy reading? I just love reading and thus I am very happy that I could find many cheap books on the Internet. This is how I can enjoy my favorite hobby without having to pay a lot of cash. There are hundreds of book stores and dealers online which offer cheap books on every subject. I am fond of fiction, so I personally search the best deals on the latest fiction titles. However, it is also easy to find many books which are not expensive in non-fiction, fantasy, science fiction, horror and mystery.

There are million reasons why you should not buy full price books if you are able to find them cheaper. If you love reading, then think of how much money you could save by buying cheaper books. Imagine you buy two new books a month. Each of them costs about $10, so you spend $240 a year on books. This isn’t too much unless you think of all the other things you could have bought with this amount of money. This is why you should consider buying cheap books instead of paying retail. The money you will save could be used to buy your children nicer Christmas presents or for example, reward yourself with a day at the spa. Or you can get that great new tool from the hardware store. Buying cheap books helps you to get the other things you want in your life and still keep reading.

I remember that as a student I hated buying books at the bookstore. One reason for that was that I had to buy all the books from a list and spend hours in the bookstore trying to find them. Apart from that I often had to buy books for easy courses like arts course I wasn’t much interested in. Then, when it comes to paying all those books on your list you realize you cannot afford it. What is really good nowadays is that cheap books often include textbooks. You should not buy textbooks full price if you can find them cheaper because after all you are going to use them only for a short period of time. If you buy cheap books for school you will have enough money for all those little luxuries that students cannot afford all the time, this might be lunch, decent coffee or a night out in the town.

Single people, parents, young adults, students and seniors can all enjoy cheap books. Everyone needs to save some money and if they manage to do so they can spend it on a few things they want. Consequently, don’t hesitate and start buying cheap books now, this is the way to indulge in your favourite hobby but save some money for the other things you want in your life.

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning books. Get the information you are seeking now by visiting www.thebookblowout.com/books/books/the-easy-way-to-find-cheap-books.html http://www.thebookblowout.com/books/books/the-easy-way-to-find-cheap-books.html .

Hey there,

Have you been seeing your doctor a little too much lately? Headaches here, chest pains there………..shortness of breath, feeling weak, dizzy, and lethargic.

A nasty virus going around?

Not likely.

Something you caught from your kids?

Probably not.

Well, what is it?

Would you believe (and you should) that it could be that you’re overweight and/or out of shape?

“No way, it can’t be!” you say……..I mean you’re supposed to drag yourself throughout the day eating chips, drinking caffeine laced beverages, and exercising your fingers on the keyboard.

“That’s how life supposed to be”………..you say, work like crazy………make as much money as possible regardless of the health risks……retire (while being overweight and out of shape) and spend a good amount of your retirement visiting your local doctor and hospital waiting for that new breakthrough surgery to suck up all that fat from your arteries. Unfortunately, this is often true of many people nowadays. How can you possibly stop this and decrease the possibility (exponentially, I might add) that you have to spend your retirement years pitching a tent at your doctor’s office.

Get moving.

Start a fitness program………..try to do a pushup (you should be able to do more than 1, by the way)………take a brisk walk around the neighborhood……..take a jog with your dog up and down the street……..try to do 10 crunches……just start something! More importantly, stick with it.

That’s all you need……..just 2 little things.

Start with something……….and stick with it.

2 simple, yet powerful actions. In fact, they’re so powerful that if you did these two little things, you would be in better shape than most people in the world!

You want to know a little secret?

Open your ears and pay attention……….

Your doctor doesn’t want to see you. In fact, they are sick of seeing you………..they would rather be playing golf….lol. But do you want to know why they have to keep long hours and spend minimal time with patients?

Because we are getting fatter and unhealthier by the day. Which equals more health problems, which equals more doctor visits, more hospital visits, more tests (very costly I might add), more x-rays, more surgeries, etc. etc. etc.

How many hundreds and thousands of dollars are you and your family spending on unnecessary health bills? Instead of chewing on a Twinkie…….chew on that thought for a while.

What would you rather have with all that extra money: a new car, a house that’s paid off, a vacation home, a boat?

Wow.

Living healthier, looking leaner, feeling younger and more energized while pocketing extra money from saved doctor bills and surgeries.

Where do you sign up?

Not at your local McDonald’s or Burger King.

Nor at your local greasy spoon restaurant.

You sign up by making a commitment to change your lifestyle. Hey, maybe that’s not what you are wanting to hear, but it’s true. You and only you, (with some help from me, of course) can make that change.

What’s the great thing about it?

So many people have tried and succeeded by doing it the right way, and you can too! It may take some time, it will take some discipline, heck, it may even take some sacrifices….but you will get so excited when you look at yourself in a mirror and see a leaner, fitter, healthier you.

Save money, save insurance company hassles……and for goodness sakes start a fitness program. I may not be able to help you have a body like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie by next week……….but listen to me and you can at least save enough money to take everyone you know to see all of their movies………lol. Actually, with your savings on doctor’s visits……..you’ll have way more money than that.

In closing, you can choose one of two things……….

1.Making a change to commit to a healthier lifestyle, a more balanced diet, and a fitness program that will lead to greater physical fitness, mental health and wellness, endurance (use your imagination), less doctor visits (when they are practically pushing you out the door anyway), less chances for heart attacks, strokes, surgeries…………AND more money in your pocket from saving yourself from these expenses.

VERSUS

2.A diet filled with fats, lard, cholesterol, unlimited carbonated beverages, “diet” drinks (that always gets a chuckle out of me), days of feeling weak, depressed, and lethargic. Let’s not forget a greater than average number of doctor visits, greater chance for health-related surgeries, greater chance for injuries (if and when you decide to get off your butt and do something), combined with looking less attractive to yourself and your significant other (or potential significant other), WHILE wasting money on all of these things.

Quite the laundry list, huh?

I don’t know about you, but I take #1 11 times out of 10. And, if I were you, I would think long and hard about making a change to #1 too.

Carmen Electra is a well-known American entertainer, model, television personality and actress. She has her toes and in many different performance fields but has never achieved breakout success in any single one of them. She is better known for her racy and flamboyant antics than for anything she has ever accomplished and the arts or entertainment industry.

Her real name is Tara Leigh Patrick and she was born on April 20th, in White Oak, Ohio. Her family is of German, Irish, and Native American descent. When she turned nine she went to a performance arts school, where she practiced her singing voice and dancing ability. When she was a teenager she picked up stakes and went to Minneapolis where she found work as a model for Target. She moved in with her sister. If A few years later in 1992, she relocated to LA where she immediately met the famous singer Prince, one of Minneapolis’ well-known sons.

Prince was so enamored with Tara’s look that he signed her up with his record label, Paisley Park Records, and talked her into renaming herself Carmen Electra. Prince was always renaming beautiful girls. Unfortunately, even though Prince did everything he could to help her music career, it was an abject failure. Apparently, just being easy to look at it isn’t enough.

That certainly didn’t stop her aspirations or celebrity. Carmen Electra was still nonetheless a celebrity, making appearances on TV and in motion pictures. In 1996, she posed for Hugh Hefners Playboy magazine which of course instantly boosted her Q-rating in both good and bad ways. In 1997 and 1998 she starred in the inexplicably popular TV series Baywatch, with Pamela Anderson. Well I guess it wasn’t all that hard to figure out why they got such good ratings. Also in 1997, she hosted a couple of shows on MTV. In 1998 she actually married the goofy basketball player, Dennis Rodman, and the couple was separated nine days later. Unsurprised it lasted that long. Their marriage was later annulled and they went their separate ways. In the next several years Carmen appeared and a couple of small movie roles.

In 2003, Carmen married former Red Hot chili Peppers member Dave Navarro, who was currently the guitarist for the band Jane’s Addiction. Before they got married, MTV shot a reality show entitled ‘Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave’, which chronicled the couple’s lives as they made preparations for the pending nuptials. In 2004, she had another small role in the movie version of the 1970’s TV show Starsky and Hutch, starring comedic actors Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.

Though she has never achieved widespread mainstream fame and fortune as a singer, model or actress, Carmen Electra is still one of the most recognizable women in the United States. What a country. The sum total of her performance experiences, and her vivacious personality has gathered her enough attention to remain in the spotlight for some years to come. Carmen Electra is proof that you don’t need talent to make it in America.
