Remember the Classics: Television that Inspired Us

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 11:27 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Classic television will never be completely forgotten or out of style as it brought so much to television screens in living rooms across the country. Watching reruns of classic TV shows will never fall out of fashion either. Not with those of us who grew up watching and learning from these classic TV shows. And not with the new generation of classic TV fans that the re-airing of these classics in television are creating now.

Some of us can remember that being youngsters in the 70s we rushed home from school to get started on finishing our homework right away so that we could watch such classic TV shows as Gilligan’s Island and I Love Lucy before suppertime. Some of our primetime classic TV selections included Bewitched, Happy Days, The Brady Bunch, Green Acres, and The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and The Partridge family. Some of these classic TV shows were still being filmed into the 80s and were joined by what are now also classic television shows we remember fondly and still enjoy watching today. Laverne & Shirley, One Day at a Time, Welcome Back Kotter, Barretta, Starsky & Hutch, Hillstreet Blues, and Mork & Mindy. When Cagney & Lacey hit the classic TV scene in the 80s, young women were empowered to dream of going into professions usually reserved for males as these two women fought crime on the mean streets of NYC and in the sometimes equally mean environment of the male dominated workplace. Our Saturday mornings were reserved for Fat Albert and the Gang, Scooby Doo, and the Jetsons. Sunday evenings we watched classic television such as Hee Haw and Disney Family Showcase Theatre.

The raunchy, pushed to the limits reality television programs that have replaced old TV shows on most networks today have nothing on those classic TV shows from the 70s and 80s. We learned true family values from the Brady’s the Walton’s, The Ingals Family, and the Partridges, not to mention the Cleavers in Leave it to Beaver, and Timmy, his Mom and super canine hero and friend, Lassie. These classic TV shows from the 70s and 80s continue to teach the family values that would otherwise be lost to the generation of children now growing up in broken homes, in families headed by only one parent, or in families in which both parents are forced to work just to make ends meet.

Those old classic TV shows taught the importance of moral values and the strength and wisdom found with several generations of a family living together or close by to one another .We learned how to share with one another and how to make friends. We learned that it was important to never lie to our parents and that they would always love us no matter what mistakes we made. We learned that there were solutions to every problem, no matter how big or small they might be. We learned to believe in ourselves and to dream big. We learned about falling in love and how to mend a broken heart. We learned all of this and so much more from these classic TV shows that will live on in those of us who have come to love them and through the television networks still brave enough to provide a platform for quality, family values shows like classic TV shows.

For many of us these shows are so ingrained in our memories it is as if Ritchie, Potsie and Mouth were our high school chums and we were right there with them throughout all of the teenage angst and mischief they got into. At the time many of us would sit and wonder what it would be like to be a Brady or Partridge. Who among us didn’t wish we owned the General Lee and could do some off- roading that rivaled that of the Duke brothers? Mork made us hopeful that it there was life on other planets, that they would be as hilarious and ready to make friends as he was. Oh and how many of our big brothers shot BB guns into the ground when Mom wasn’t looking because they were intent on finding oil and becoming millionaires like good ol’ Jed Clampitt did? Okay so not everything we learned from these classic TV shows was something Mom was thrilled to find us reenacting. But is sure was a whole lot of fun. Classic TV encouraged you to use your imagination. Not at all like the mindless stuff that permeates television and our children our bombarded with today that spark little, if any imagination.

No, classic television will never be completely forgotten or go out of style. There are too many of us old and young who will keep the demand for these old TV shows alive.

The Benefits of Using Gas Credit Cards

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 11:23 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Time is a luxury that most people do not have. Time is a valuable commodity, especially for busy men such as myself. I am a salesman and I often have to visit a lot of places in order to reach my quotas. Fortunately for me, there are things such as gas credit cards that make it convenient and less costly for me to refuel.

If you are not familiar with this type of credit card I suggest that you check out cyberspace to get information about them. The Internet can also give you sites that will aid you in finding offers from various gas companies like Conoco, Hess, Marathon, Citgo and Phillips 66. You will also find gas credit cards that can be used to buy gas from any gas station.

Gas credit cards offer different types of promotions and rebates to catch the attention of car owners throughout the country. Marathon gas credit cards offer a 10% rebate on Marathon Midwest and Southeast gas stations, for the opening sixty days. After that period, you’ll realize a continuous 5% rebate.

This gas credit card will not charge you an annual fee for the first year. In addition, if you use this credit card for nine purchases for the year, you will not be obligated to pay the usual $90 yearly fee for the following year. The rate on this card might be as low as 13.99% depending on your credit. You will enjoy no fee and zero percent APR on any balance transfers.

Hess gas credit cards on the other hand, offer you promotions for free gas and merchandise at all Hess, Hess Express and Wilco Hess location. You will earn a 10% rebate during the ninety day introductory period. After which you will net a 5% rebate for every Hess purchase while purchases from other gas stations will give you a 1% rebate. If choose to get the Hess platinum gas credit cards, your preliminary APR is zero balance and can last up to six months. You will not be charged for any yearly fee with this credit card.

Chase PerfectCard is also one of the gas credit cards that are featured on the World-Wide -Web. It offers a rebate of 6% for the preliminary ninety days, which is good on any gas purchase. Once this ninety day period ends, you will enjoy a one percent rebate on whatever you procure at restaurants, clothing retailers, and grocery stores. You will also earn a 3 % rebate at all gas station purchases after the introductory period.

Your APR is also fixed at zero percent on any balance you transfer to the cards for as long as nine months. Depending on your credit card, you can earn a rate under 14% and will not be charged for any annual fee. You can choose to waive this annual fee by making a minimum of nine purchasers for the year.

Tips On How To Use Sugar In Hair Removal

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 11:12 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Sugaring, a recipe for hair removal. This hair removal technique starts in the kitchen. Start with a cup of regular sugar, a quarter cup of honey, and juice from half of a lemon. Microwave this mixture for two to three minutes or until it starts to bubble. It should have a smooth consistency at this point. Leave the bowl to cool for about five minutes.

Now that the sugar solution has cooled you need to get a wooden stick similar to a tongue depressor for applying it, while still in the kitchen grab some corn starch. You will also need multiple strips of non colored cloth, cutting up an old white T-shirt works well.

Sugaring works like waxing and the sugar and honey solution will stick to the hairs to assist you in pulling the hairs out by the roots, so unfortunately, like waxing, it will hurt.

Clean and dry beforehand the area you plan on sugaring. Be careful that this area is free from residue of soaps or lotions. It is said that sugaring will work the best on the upper lip hair line and the bikini area. This process is messy so it is best to do this in the bathroom or somewhere you can be sure clean up is as easy as possible.

Start by spreading some cornstarch on the area to be treated. Please note that whatever area you decide to treat the effects will last from two to six weeks with fine hair growth beginning to show about two weeks after the application. The more noticeable hair growths will show about four weeks after application.

After you have prepped the area with the cornstarch use the wooden stick or some similar applicator to apply a thin layer of the sugar mixture. Next, place a strip of cotton cloth over this. Use your hand to apply moderate pressure to this cloth rubbing it in the opposite direction of your hair growth. Take the end of the cloth strip and swiftly snatch it off in the opposite direction from that which your hair grows in. Use warm water on the treated skin to take off any of the sticky sugar mixture which may remain. If you desire, you can put an unscented lotion on the skin now.

Ahh, now you can relax you have mastered sugaring.

Immigration to Canada Documents (part 2)

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 11:03 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

c) Provincial Nomination

This scheme is appropriate for persons that are interested in one province in particular to immigrate and achieve their personal and professional objectives. In this case, provinces play a more direct role in selecting immigrants that wish to settle in that province in particular.

The application has to be nominated by a province, and then a separate application has to be submitted to Citizenship and Immigration Canada to apply for Permanent Residence.

d) Family Class Immigration

This category applies for immigrants who already have the Permanent Residence status and live in Canada, who wish to sponsor close relatives or family members to become permanent residents. The main requirement is to commit to support the person they are sponsoring and their accompanying family members for a period of three to ten years.

In order to qualify under the Family Class scheme, the applicant must be related to the Canadian sponsor in one of the following ways:

- Sponsor’s spouse; common-law or conjugal partner;

- Parent;

- Orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece, or grandchild –under 19 and unmarried;

- A child under 19 who is either orphaned or placed with a child welfare authority for adoption and who the sponsor intends to adopt; the sponsor’s dependent child;

- If the sponsor has no relative as listed above and no relatives who are Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents, one other relative.

For immigration purposes, a spouse should be married to the sponsor and the marriage should be legally valid.

If married in Canada, a Certificate of Marriage should be issued by the province or territory where the marriage took place. If the marriage was performed outside Canada, the marriage must be valid under the law of the country where it took place and under Canadian law. If the marriage is performed in an embassy or consulate, it must comply with the law of the country where it took place (not the country of nationality of the embassy or consulate).

e) International Adoption

A Canadian citizen or permanent resident is allowed to adopt a child from another country. The child must be sponsored, and the sponsorship process can start, either when the decision is made to adopt the child, or after the adoption process has been started.

There are two necessary processes to adopt a child from another country: the adoption process and the immigration sponsorship process.

f) Quebec Selected Immigration

Under Canadian law, Quebec can establish its own immigration requirements in order to select immigrants who will most likely adapt to Quebec. In order to immigrate to Canada as a Quebec Skilled Worker, an application must be submitted to the local government in Quebec to obtain a Certificate de selection du Qu?bec. After the application has been approved by Quebec, a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence has to be done. One of the advantages of this scheme is that Quebec Skilled Workers are not assessed on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program. The six selection factors will be explain in the following sections.

As mentioned previously, this guide focuses mainly in Skilled Worker Class Immigration, which is the most popular of most categories. In my opinion, it is also the most convenient way to immigrate to Canada. However, it is important to analyze the other alternatives in order to decide which option suits best for your personal needs.

Meet the Pass - Mark

As mentioned previously, for immigration purposes, Skilled Workers are people who are able to become economically established in Canada. Basically, applicants must meet work experience requirements, prove that they have enough funds to settle and earn enough points to meet the Pass - Mark based on the six selection factors.

In the Skilled Worker Class, a skilled worker is someone who has at least one year of full time work experience within the past ten years in one of the occupations listed in Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). In order to be considered full time work experience, the relevant job has to be of 37.5 hours per week or more.

Work experience is only considered for this purpose if it is included in

Skill Type 0 or Skill Levels A and B of the NOC.

Assuming that these prerequisites are met, then in order to immigrate to Canada as a Skilled Worker, the applicant needs to earn enough points to meet the Pass Mark. Fortunately for applicants, the pass mark was recently modified. On September 18, 2003 Citizenship and Immigration Canada announced that the pass mark for applicants applying for Permanent Residence as Skilled Workers (expect to

Quebec) would change from 75 to 67 points.

The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada constantly amends the Pass Mark, and these changes reflect changes in the labor market in Canada and also in the economy and society.

The following tables show the points earned for different circumstances under each factor. As mentioned, the 6 factors are Education, Official Languages, Experience, Age, Arranged Employment in Canada and Adaptability. The total points to meet the pass mark are 67.

In order to asses your situation and decide whether you will qualify for the Permanent Residence visa under the Skilled Worker scheme, you have to add up the points that reflect your own situation in each factor. For instance, if you have completed a Master of Business Administration and 17 years of full time study, you will earn 25 points (which is the maximum in this factor) for Education. However, if you have only completed a three-year diploma and at least 15 years of full time study, you will only earn 22 points for Education. If the total sum of your points in all 6 factors is equal to or greater than 67, then you are eligible to apply for the Permanent Residence Visa under this particular scheme.

Now, it is time to evaluate your situation! Read the following tables carefully and add up your points! Good luck!

Which Veterinary School Is Right For You?

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 10:58 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

No matter whether you are only considering or sure that you want to follow a veterinary career, there will be a veterinary school or collage that will suit you. To become a veterinarian you will have to attend a school or collage just as doctors have to attend a medical school.

In the U.S, there are more than 50 veterinary schools and colleges that you could perhaps enroll in; they’re located in numerous states, Florida, New York, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Oregon, California, Colorado, Virginia and Wyoming, to name just a few. Veterinary schools and colleges can also be found in Canada and the United Kingdom, in fact, nearly anywhere in the world. Should being a veterinarian be your destiny, then you should research the all the veterinary schools and colleges to discover which one is best suited to you.

What Will I Be Taught At Veterinary School?

If you wish to qualify as a veterinarian, then it will be necessary for you to attend a veterinary school or college in order for you to obtain the many skills that are crucial to this career. In a veterinary school or college, you will get the chance to be taught the many different practices and techniques that will assist you greatly in your knowledge of veterinary science. You will acquire knowledge concerning the basics of animal care. You will also acquire knowledge concerning veterinary laboratory procedures that you will employ as a professional veterinarian. Various other topics that will be covered in a veterinary school or college will include veterinary hematology and veterinary pharmacology. Training will also be received in the many clinical veterinary procedures.

Not all of your time will be spent learning from the lectures and textbooks. Most veterinary schools and collages will require its students to also complete a residency in addition to the classes, this is where students will learn, observe and be involved with hands on activities. Residencies offer some of the best experiences for student veterinarians.

Do You Specialize or Not Specialize?

Like doctors have the opportunity to choose to specialize in the varied areas of medical field, veterinarians also have this opportunity too. For instance, a veterinarian could choose to specialize in veterinary dental care or in veterinary cardiology. The choices are endless - howsoever, often specializing will require a specific program or additional veterinary school or collage course work.

Only you will be able to determine whether or not it is worth the extra investment and time to specialize in a particular area. To specialize in veterinary dental care would mean that you would have to find a specific program that offers that training and to specialize in veterinary cardiology may require a much longer residency.

A Gift from Echo

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 10:46 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

It was about a year after Echo, my Arabian mare, had been euthanized at the age of 32. I had cleaned up all her things and put them away. Horse blankets and brushes were washed and stored. Leather tack was cleaned, covered in leather preservative, and lovingly packed away. I had gone through all her things, including her medical kit, giving away what would not keep, and cleaning up everything else. Now I just had memories and my grief.

I was sitting down to meditate one day when I felt Echo nuzzling my neck, as she used to do when she was in physical. I said hello to her and she responded with another soft wiggle of her nose against my skin.

“Echo, would you like to be groomed?” I asked. I heard “yes”.

We had been together for 22 years, and I knew Echo’s physical body intimately. With my eyes closed, I began with a rubber curry, starting on the left side of her neck near her head and working down her neck, over her withers, and across her ribs. I didn’t miss a single spot. In my mind, I curried her entire left side and then moved to the right side of her body. A curry brings up all the dirt and dust that horses collect when they roll to scratch an itch or remove dried sweat. Then a brush removes all the dirt and leaves a shiny coat.

I was thorough in my mental grooming. I used all of Echo’s favorite grooming tools, including the rubber mitt with bumps that worked so well on her lower legs where horses have no muscles to protect their bone. After brushing her thoroughly, I combed out her mane, and carefully brushed her tail, separating each hair. I picked out all four of her feet. It was the same way I had groomed her almost daily all the years we were together.

Echo had loved to be groomed. She would stand there like a princess being prepared for a royal visitor. She especially enjoyed having her mane and tail combed out. I could feel her satisfaction at the job I was doing, even though she no longer had a physical body with which to experience it.

When I finished, I gave Echo a big hug, and opened my eyes. To my amazement, a half hour had passed, about the same time it would have taken me to actually groom her when she was alive. I got up and left the room.

Twenty minutes later, I headed into the kitchen past the chair where I had meditated. On the floor, right in front of the chair, was a long tail hair. I was mystified. I had vacuumed the house many times since Echo’s passing, and that all her things were put away. Where had it come from? How did it get there? I picked up and examined the hair carefully. Echo was a grey horse with many crystal clear tail and mane hairs. This was definitely one of hers. It had not been there when I sat down to meditate. The tail hair lying on the floor had been materialized as a “thank you” gift from Echo.

A Tribute To Maria Montessori

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 10:46 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

The only purpose of education is to teach a student how to live his life - by developing his mind and equipping him to deal with reality. The training he needs is theoretical, i.e., conceptual. He has to be taught to think, to understand, to integrate, to prove. He has to be taught the essentials of the knowledge discovered in the past - and he has to be equipped to acquire further knowledge by his own efforts.

- Ayn Rand, The Comprachicos

The state of education in New Zealand is a shambles. Parents who are concerned about the future well-being of their children are searching desperately for educational alternatives. The increased demand for private schooling and the dramatic rise in the number of home-schooled children provide an accurate measure of the growing degree of parental dissatisfaction with the current situation.

But unless responsible and well-meaning parents are armed with the philosophical knowledge to be able to choose a rational educational method for their children - i.e., a type of educational method that will fully prepare their children for successful adult life - then it is quite likely that the results will be just as disappointing for them as for those parents who have left their children’s education in the hands of the state.

There is no guarantee whatsoever that private or home-schooling per se will produce satisfactory results. It is one thing to opt out of a state system that not only stunts, but positively perverts a child’s intellectual and moral growth (see Editorial, Turning Minds to Mush, TFR #9)

Things Women Want In A Man

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 10:34 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

I met Jessica, a 24 year old law student who modeled lingerie to help defray the costs of her education, a few months ago in a nice lounge. I was there with

a couple friends of mine, enjoying a nice bottle of Pinot Noir wine. One of the things that a Date Pro has is the ability to be aware of his environment,

even if part of his focus is somewhere else. In this case I was focused on conversation with my friends. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a man walk

up to a very attractive young lady at the bar, offering to buy her a drink. She wasn’t interested so she thanked him for the offer and continued munching on

what appeared to be an appetizer.

This man wouldn’t take no for an answer and started giving her a hard time. I could tell from her body language that she was ready to do something drastic

such as ask for security or start yelling at him. Here’s a pointer for you: one of the best ways to meet a woman is to rescue her from a man or group of

men that she has zero interest in. After some practice in reading bodylanguage, you’ll pick up on this. It was my cue to leave my friends for a moment and

see if I could do my good deed for the evening. So I walked toward her and the man that would not leave her alone.

Excuse me honey, I said innocently, but deeply, firmly, and quite loud, making sure that I made eye contact with her so she knew exactly what I was trying

to do. I’m so sorry I didn’t see you when I walked in here, I ran into Ken and Ronald and ended up chatting with them. When they saw me they were like

‘Hey Rod! Over here!’ Since I didn’t see you I hung out with them for a while. I think I need to be flogged, though I think I prefer a spanking (smirk or

eye wink).

You’ll notice that I found a way to include my name in my initial approach so she would know my name. A couple of seconds passed and those two seconds felt

like an hour as I wasn’t sure if she would play along, not that it really mattered. Most women usually do because they pick up on subtle clues, cues, and

hints far better than men do. This was one of those times. I was wondering where you were honey, she said, trying her hardest not to laugh.

Oh, started the man who was bothering her, If you were expecting someone why didn’t you say anything?

I didn’t want his badgering to continue so I simply looked at him, then looked at her, then looked at him and said, Hey buddy, if you don’t mind, I’d like

to spend a moment alone with my fianc?e.

He knew that he had lost. Oh man, sorry. Later. And off he went.

As he was making his way out of our little circle, I leaned in and whispered in her ear, Ok, once he’s out of sight, I’m going back to my friends. By the

way, my name really IS Rod. Then I grabbed a stool, gave her a wink, and she leaned into my direction and whispered, Thank you. Sometimes the damsel in

distress that you saved appreciates what you did and prefers that you be on your way, but sometimes they don’t want you to leave. My name is Jessica, she

continued, Do you really have to leave? Why don’t you hang out for a bit? Aha!

So Rod, what is it that you do? , Jessica asked with a sincerity not usually found in these kind of places. Normally I don’t like telling women what I do

for a living until after a few dates, but it’s only a guideline, not some rule written in stone. I like to go with my gut most of the time, since that is a

sign that a person’s game has evolved. Jessica was beautiful and she had this very innocent, cute face that made me want to protect her, this was

evolutionary psychology and biology at work, not my inner wussbag coming out. One has to keep that under control at all times during an initial meeting with

a stranger.

Let’s just say that I help men figure out what they really want out of life, I said with a grin on my face. She accepted that for the time being and we

began talking about that. Eventually I asked her what she thought a healthy, attractive, mature woman wants in a man. Leave out the stuff about ‘I like to

laugh’ or a ‘man who knows how to treat a lady’ type stuff. I’m looking for specifics.

Well, Jessica started, You observed one thing we don’t like and that is to keep trying to pick up on us after we’ve made it clear we’re not interested.

Sometimes I want to go out and not want to meet new people. Sometimes I just want a drink or dance or just hang out. I hate it when a man is too pushy.

Please continue, this is fascinating, I remarked.

I have a part-time job that pays really well, so I don’t need a man to help me out financially in any way, Jessica continued on with a look of serious

passion in her face. You know what I think most ‘healthy’ women want? They want a man who can take care of himself. He might even be broke today but if

he has a career or is in school or started a new business, a woman can see that he has ambition and potential. I think a lot of women look more into the

future than men do. A man should be financially stable. That doesn’t mean he has to be rich, he should be good with his money and not spend it on frivolous

things.

You mean like a Coach hand bag, Mac make up, or Jimmy Choo shoes right? I interjected with a teasing tone to my voice. Jessica giggled.

Something like that, silly, I could tell Jessica was a fun gal. I know one thing I like is when my man plans out a whole evening for both us. I like it

when he plans ahead. I have a friend named Monica who was dating this really unattractive man, but she didn’t care. If you can make her laugh she is all

yours. Tell your clients that if a woman is laughing at his jokes then she likes him.

So, I chimed in, What you’re really looking for is a confident man who has a plan for his life, has potential, a sense of humor, financially stable, and

knows how to make a woman feel sexy and good, right?

Absolutely! Jessica exclaimed.

Big Five Animals In South Africa

Filed under: Uncategorized — koraysblog9150 at 10:22 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008

The term ‘Big Five’ originated among the hunters of a bygone era to describe not the largest of the animals that they hunted, but the most dangerous.

These are lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros. Every one of these animals has a reputation for pursuing its attacker with intent to kill. Perhaps the most persistent is the buffalo, which will ceaselessly pursue his aggressor, making hunting a life-or-death experience for the hunted and the hunter!

All of these mammals are to be found in South Africa, making this country one of the most popular locations for safari style holidays.

Indeed, South Africa has embraced this rich wildlife heritage and welcomes visitors from all around the world who come to experience close encounters with the magnificent beasts. Many of our game lodges offer the most luxurious accommodation and facilities available for ‘bush’ holidays in the world.

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve in the Mpumalanga province, for example, is arguably the most exclusive game reserve in the country. With no fences existing between the Kruger Park and Sabi Sands, the wildlife roams free between the two reserves. Leopards are the main attraction here, and these awesome creatures are so accustomed to humans that you can even follow them while hunting, in an off-road vehicle. All of the Big Five can be viewed at Sabi Sands.

Other well-known and excellent reserves around the country where one can view the Big Five in South Africa include the world-renowned Kruger Park in Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces, the Pilansberg Game Reserve in the North Western Province, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Park in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Visitors who are confined to the Cape Town area are often under the impression that they will be unable to view the Big Five. However there is a reserve only 90 minutes from the centre of Cape Town, Aquila, where one can view four of the Big Five. Self-drive or guided drive tours are available from Cape Town - even one day tours are possible, although you may well wish to stay overnight in the appealing accommodation set in 4500 hectares of pristine Karoo landscape. The terrain is varied - from mountains and valleys to wetlands - ideal for game viewing be it in a 4×4 safari vehicle, on horseback or even by quad-bike. Aquila is home to four of the Big Five animals: lion, buffalo, rhino and the rare Mountain Leopard. You may also spot and giraffe and hippo, not to mention herds of wildebeest, zebra, springbok and other bucks, plus baboon, jackal and the bat-eared fox.

What with the wetlands, you can expect a wealth of bird-life viewing to complete your safari experience - all so close to Cape Town!

Those who can travel as far as the Eastern Cape - a pleasant day’s drive along the beautiful Garden Route - can also view the Big Five and other species of game at the excellent Addo Elephant Park and Shamwari Game Reserve - both well-worth the visit for game lovers.

A safari holiday to South Africa is often considered incomplete without sightings of the Big Five. These days most people are content to take home photographs of the living animals rather than skins and hunting trophies. However there are legal hunting reserves for those who feel the need.
