Does your personal style truly reflect your uniqueness? Do you feel comfortable in your own skin? Do you feel confident about what your look says about you? Do you gravitate toward just buying the fashion magazine’s latest look? Or are you constantly comparing how you look to others?
My life’s experience is that many women do not own their look. Many women do not embrace their uniqueness and instead create copycat, plain Jane or outlandish styles that aren’t reflective of whom they are.
I believe that any woman can evoke the look that simply confirms her being and uniqueness. She can look chic, feminine in accordance with her personality, lifestyle and very importantly, budget. Here are the steps I recommend you follow:
Step 1: Discover what your body type is and which styles look good on you. Kendall Starr in her book, Pocket Stylist, believes that regardless of whether a woman is average or plus sized, there is one of three basic silhouettes that apply to everyone. The three basic silhouettes are:
BODY TYPE A: The average version of a woman whose shoulders are narrower than the width of her hips. Regardless of whether she is flat- or full-chested, this torso proportion is defined by a definite visual difference between the width of those shoulders and the width of the hips.
BODY TYPE B: The traditional hourglass - although Farr herself isn’t in favor of geometry or fruit-derived monikers ( no hourglasses, apples, pears, celery or any of that stuff ) - this woman’s shoulder width is essentially the same as her hip width, and the waist is generally well defined. Bust size can be anywhere from flat-chested to full-breasted. (Again, simply a particular that refines her fit - not a starting point.)
BODY TYPE C: The shoulders are wider than the width of the hips. Broad-shouldered, narrow-hipped models fall into this category. Her waist is usually quite straight, and can be somewhat of a fitting challenge. Once you’ve determined your body type, go to a store with an honest friend. Try on various fabrics and cuts to see how the material and shape emphasize or detract from your basic body silhouette. Remember, window shopping is okay, no need to break the bank and immediately overhaul your wardrobe.
Step 2: Inventory your wardrobe and make sure you have these wardrobe basics, which complement your silhouette and lifestyle:
Pants:
? Dark - Day Look In a simple, skimming cut and crisp high-quality fabric.
? Dark - Night Look Fuller leg in a lighter high-quality fabric.
Jeans or Chinos:
? To wear with a flat heel Hemmed shorter to wear with flats.
? To wear with heels Hemmed longer.
Skirts: ? Pencil, Trouser or A-Line Cut In black or lightweight wool.
? A-line or Bias Cut In a flowy fabric for day or evening.
? Skirt in a neutral, mixable style A subtle pin stripe or tweed.
Shirts:
? White button down In a feminine cut.
? White T-shirts Just the basic T, a boat neck, or V-neck.
Sweaters/Cardigans:
? Black That tonally matches your black pants.
? Neutral In a skin flattering tone, i.e. avoid stark white if you’re fair.
? Vivid Color Must emphasize your features and not detract.
Jackets
? Tailored It should match your dark pants in color tone and style.
? Casual Bombers, motorcycle styles and windbreakers are good choices in fabrics like leather, suede, corduroy, soft wool or cotton twill.
Coats
? Trench Good for the rain and in-between seasons - choose a neutral or black.
? Knee-length For in-between seasons.
? Winter Coat Invest in the best fabric you can possibly afford.
Dress or matching separates that create a dress. Always have a little black dress on hand.
Accessories
? Cherish four to five high-end fashion accessories (costume jewelry and scarves) that you wear all the time.
? Add one or two new trendy pieces each season and wear them out.
? Invest in high quality everyday leather handbags and shoes.
Become friends with a great tailor who can assure that these key clothing pieces flatter your uniqueness.
Step 3: Find a great hair stylist who is skilled at working with your hair type. Then get a fuss-free hairstyle and maintain it. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely dread having to use several hairstyling tools and products. It’s all about simplicity to manage my hair (flat crown and wavy length). I could be using tons of root lifter, hair serums, along with a blow dryer, flat iron, three brushes and then finishing products. However, I made a decision some time ago to embrace my hair texture and found a hair stylist who knows exactly how I operate and created a style accordingly.
Step 4: Treat your skin as the treasure it is. Get a facial every month or just give yourself a weekly facial. Maintain, protect and nourish your skin daily. If you have great skin, you radiate and barely need any make-up. The time spent on your daily skin care routine is also a wonderful time to dedicate to yourself and regeneration. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water to hydrate it.
Step 5: Use make-up as an aid to emphasize your beautiful features, not hide them under layers and layers of coating. I firmly believe in the principle applied by French women: less is more. Your basics include: tinted moisturizer with SPF, a light powder, blush, a great mascara and a lipstick or lip gloss. Select colors that are complementary to your skin tone, hair color and eye color. Heavy smoky eye make-up or bright red lips may look great in a magazine. However, if they don’t reflect your uniqueness - leave them in the store!
Let your imagination and creativity take its power to truly reflect your uniqueness. So, when someone asks you: Does Your Personal Style Reflect Your Uniqueness? You’ll answer confidently: Absolutely!

As with any vacuum cleaner, understanding the pros and cons of the Dyson Animal DC15 can help you decide if it is the right purchase for you. Take a look and decide which of these matters to you before you go out and make that all important purchase.
Dyson Animal DC15 Pros
The first pro of the DC15 is that it is an upright vacuum cleaner with a new state of the art mobility system. The “ball vacuum” as it is often called rolls on a single ball. There are no wheels, which is a plus because it glides easily across the floor and pivots perfectly allowing for easy vacuuming.
Secondly, the canister in it empties easily. In the past, vacuum cleaners without bags ended up being dustier than the bags where because you had to pour them out and let the dust out everywhere. The DC15 has a button so that you hold the detached canister over a garbage can and the bottom will drop out. This gets all the dust out without banging and shaking (but to be safe, you should consider an outdoor garbage can anyway).
Cons of the Animal
The Dyson Animal is not without its drawbacks. As with any consumer product, there are drawbacks to this particular vacuum cleaner. Though the cons tend to be on the picky side, they may be important to some people in certain situations, so it is important to note them.
The main con you hear about with the Dyson DC15 is that it is expensive, and it is. To get a new one, you can expect to spend around $600 or $700 with most retailers. You get what you pay for, but not everyone can pay for this.
Secondly, it is really heavy, If you have to lug your vacuum up and down stairs often then this may not be the cleaner for your. The Dyson Animal DC15 vacuum comes in just a hair under 20 pounds. That may not sound like a lot until you start lugging it up your stairs for the third consecutive day.
Finally, it is not a quiet vacuum. Though few vacuums are quiet, this one is loud. On the other hand, some people feel like this is a sign of its power. So it can really go either way.

What color is a horse? The words for a horse’s coat color have very specific meanings.
A bay horse has a body coat that is a shade of brown with black legs, mane, and tail. Within the bay group, there are blood bays which is a more dark reddish shade of brown and bright bays which can look a golden brown. There are also black bays, which might appear to most people as a black horse. Truly black horses are a more rare color.
Most horses that you might think look black are black bays, which is a very dark brown. You will see lighter colored hair between the hind legs and tummy area and around the muzzle. This makes them black bays instead of black horses. People also call this seal brown.
A chestnut horse has a coat that is a shade of red, while the legs, mane, and tail may be lighter or darker than the body, or the same color, but never black. A chestnut horse can be any shade of red, reddish-brown, or orangey-red. A very dark brownish red with no black on the legs, mane, or tail is known as liver chestnut. It is a more rare color. Sorrel is another word for a light chestnut color.
Grey horses have black skin with white or gray hair. A grey horse might look white, but if its skin is dark, it is a grey. Grey horses are born a dark color, such as black or brown, and their coat grows lighter as they grow older. There are light grey, dapple grey, flea-bitten grey, and steel grey variations in coloring. A white horse must have pink skin, which is more rare than grey horses.
Dun horses have a sandy yellow to reddish brown coat. Their legs are usually darker than their body and they sometimes have faint zebra stripes on their legs. Dun horses always have a dark stripe down the middle of their back along their back bone, known as a dorsal stripe.
Sometimes the dorsal stripe continues down the horse’s tail and through the mane. Many dun colored horses also have face masking, which makes the horse’s nose and sometimes the rest of the face a darker color than the horse’s body.
A buckskin horse has a sandy yellow or tan color with black legs, mane, and tails. Buckskins are similar looking to duns, except that buckskins do not have a dorsal stripe or other primitive markings that are seen in duns.
Palomino horses have gold-colored coat with a white or light cream colored mane and tail. A palomino coat can range from a light off-white shade to a deep shade of gold.
Roan horses have white hairs mixed with a body color to produce blue roan, which is roan mixed with black, red roan, which is roan and bay, and strawberry or rose roan, which roan and chestnut.
There are other white body markings and spots that can affect the horse color to be a Paint or an Appaloosa, which also have breed registries just for them. (We’ll save those topics for another article.)
So next time you see a brown or black horse, look carefully - What color is the horse?

(If you wish to more benefit from this article please read first our Correct Understanding the Human titled article.)
I had talked about five dimensions of the human existence at my previous article.
There are Subtance dimension , Physiologycal dimension and Psichological dimension at the animals, also. But other two dimensions belong to the human only. I want to emphasize the last two dimensions for the reason that these are the base of the human manners.
The human gets a character and personality with to be taken the management of the body by the mind, at the fourth mind dimension. Because, the mind is a mechanism that to think , to analyse and synthesize , and to decide . For this reason, this dimension is a dimension that the human behaves according to his self free demands and wishes, with his self free volitions and with his self free decisions. But, in this dimension, desires and wishes of the ego dominate on the manners of person, because, the divine schooling does not be realized, yet. That means, person takes the base thoroughly his self desires and wishes, his own volition, as he decides on any subject.
As a result, in this dimension, the being suitable to the wishes of the person is good , but the being adverse to the wishes of the person is bad . For this reason, the person can not escape himself from to be possessive double standart. Because, the same thing and case, as be good at a certain time, for suitable to his private benefit, at an other time, is be bad , for adverse to his private benefit.
An other characteristic of this dimension is to be fond of money, status and havings. In this dimension, as the person takes essence the desires and wishes of his ego as main manager of his manners, everything satisfying this desires gets a big value in his eye. A big fondness arises in his heart for everything satisfying this desires and wishes of his ego. This extreme love and fondness for things such as money, status and havings makes these into a God in owner eye. And makes become merciless and hard-hearted againts the other humans, him.
The annoyances and confusions of the man in this dimension does not never finish. Because, the man in fourth dimension who affiliated to his ego, makes be exhausted every instant of his time of life trying to satisfy the interminable desires and wishes of his ego. Whereas the needs of human is endless. Also the desires and wishes occurring in human ego for these needs, are endless. Does it fihish the annoyances and confusions of the man who tries to do his own every sweet will? For this reason, one of the main characteristics of this fourth dimension is the boredoms, heart unrests, precipitancy.
One of the most important characteristics in this dimension is haughtiness. Haugtiness means to look up himself. This is a spontaneous result of to be ego centered. Because, the ego changes the realities according to itself’s desires and wishes. And it looks excellent itself on everybody and everything.
The human in this dimension, also, does not know a love in real meaning. Because, the love of him is only for his ego and it’s desires and wishes. For this reason, he loves everything and everybody satisfying his wishes, and giving the pleasure himself. But, he becomes instantly distant from everything and everybody giving a little trouble himself. He loves the performer any wish of him, he hates from everybody which has’t performed his wish.
Therefor, the majority of the humans are very well as long as you perform his wishes. The good and the bad of the human is be understood when you haven’t performed his desires.
Shortly, the man in the fourth dimension is a man who is owner personality , but egoist, tight fisted, atrocious, troubled, unrestful and unloving. Soever, he tries to seem such as a good man for the reason the behavior patterns coming from value judgments placed in society, there is always an egoism under these views. There is a artificiality and a spuriousness in these manners, always.
Everything begins to change, when a person has recognized to resign himself to God and to subject to Him, believing his own Creator. This instant is a instant that the human has took first step to the maturity. The fifth dimension starts here.
My dear brother,
The fifth moral dimension of the human is a divine schooling duration that its rules is put by God. The name of this schooling duration is the religion. The religion is a mercy and beneficence of God. Unfortunately, only the believings to God and afterdeath take advantage of this mercy and beneficence. This mercy is only for the givings up themselves to God with their heart contentedness. The most of the humans don’t be aware this mercy and beneficence of their Creator, who are be so wrapped up in the desires and wishes of their ego.
The most important reason of the deprivations of the humans from this mercy and beneficence of God, doubtless, is their haughtiness. The haughtiness is the most important barricade in front of all the benefactions. But, the worst of the haughtiness is that being against his God by human. It is a so much fatuously thing to haughtiness against his God by human, that he was created by Him, his all needs provided by Him, and he is a weak creature who will be dead if he remains breathless a few minutes.
If the human begins to be subject to volition of his God, relinquishing his self free volition and his haughtiness, with self heart contentedness, believing Him, he goes into a spiritual ascension and maturation duration.
The method of this spiritual ascension and maturation duration is to remember his Creator everytime, and to do riyazet and mucahede . Riyazet means to do not the things (forbidden things) which ego wishes, mucahede means to do the things (worship and favor) which ego doesn’t wish.
During to be completed this maturation duration, doing riyazet and mucahade , the politeness and the maturity of the human increases. He begins to be a human in really meaning. The endless desires of the ego being present in his heart be decreased little by little. The person escapes from his ego and egoism. The fondness against the money, status and havings in his heart finishs. The love of God, who is the real deity and is owner the mercy and high favour, takes place in his heart, in place of these fake deities.
If a person be how much sincere in his belief and be desirous in performing the worships for God, this maturation duration be completed so much quickly.
When the love of God was placed to the heart disappearing the other loves and subjections, shortly after, everything changes. I am comparing just this case like that one greedy caterpillar which devours everything, becomes one elegant butterfly which carries fragrances from flower to flower. After being completed this maturation duration, takes modesty the place of haugtiness, gentleness the place of coarseness, compassion the place of heartlessness, bashfulness the place of shamelessness, beneficence the place of grimness, love the place of hate. This love in fifth dimension unlikes the love in fourth dimension. It is a real love . It is not like the loves which be showed for wold benefits and then disappears this benefit finished.
My dear brother,
The most important results obtained in consequence of this duration are those: A strong belief and a heart serenity depending on it. Resignation. Marifetullah. Marifetullah means to know his God by the human. The most valuable of the knowledges for the human is to know his God, videlicet marifetullah . The human has been created for this purpose. The religion is not somniferous as the socialist mentality has thought. The religion means to be a real man by passing through the schooling of God. If a man doesn’t pass through this schooling, in spite of to be an intelligent creature, he turns out to be a cruel, fiendish, merciless, shameless, contradictious, tightwad, egoist, unrighteous creature, who always uses for viciousness his mental activity. He sometimes is insomuch cruel that, even any animal does not the thing he does.
The viciousnesses can not be controlled in the societies being deprived of the religion. The society becomes full to overflowing with the humans who tries to crush each other. Therefore, the religion is not a somniferous, but it is a perfection elixir for the human. There are always serenity and happiness at the societies which sincerely lives the religion. The perturbations and discomforts stalks at the societies which does not sincerely live the religion or they have suspended from the religion.
The human knows his self ego and his God by means of the religion. He becomes a saintly creature owning the heart serenity, morality and good manner, by means of the religion.
Be trusted to God.

Camping is a lot of fun for people who enjoy the opportunity to spend some quieter moments in the woods. For individuals who are able to get away for a few days, the experience can be invigorating. The challenge of going without many routine life conveniences in itself can be gratifying to those who like to rough it. One of the greater challenges, however, is faced when the camping trip is accompanied by others who are not quite as exuberant.
Let’s suppose you have big plans for a long weekend in the woods. You take half a day off of work on Friday and intend to stay until Monday evening. This time, though, it’s a family trip. You are anxious to experience a few refreshing days of family time away from the city or suburbia, but your spouse has marginal interest and your children are easily bored. What do you do?
In order to realize the benefits of both competing needs (i.e. time away in the woods and happy family experience), you make some adjustments to accommodate the preferences of everyone.
You, for example, may be the energetic adventurer who would be more than content with a sleeping bag, clean water, and a hunting bow. Your wife, on the other hand, might enjoy walking in through the woods for a few hours, but at the end of the day prefer a warm bath in a hotel room. And for the kids, baseball and video games are their sources of fun. Trouble is brewing unless you plan ahead.
Though it will take some effort, you can meet at least a portion of the interests of each person.
So one of the keys to creating a win-win scenario concerns both how you approach the trip and what you bring.
Some recommendations follow.
STANDARD STUFF
?Locate an established camp ground that is secure and safe.
?Spend a little investigation time on the Internet to locate a camp ground that offers some flexibility for family preferences and optional activity opportunities.
?The family tent should be bigger than a, um, pup tent. Decide in advance through family conversations if everyone would prefer to stay together in one large tent, one for the adults with another for the kids, or (especially given older kids of different genders) a separate tent for each person.
?Warm (warm!) and appropriately sized sleeping bags. And did I mention making sure they are warm…
?Some form of cushioning for under the sleeping bags. This could be an air mattress or perhaps a foam cushion.
?Flashlights and extra batteries that do not have an expiration date from the turn of the century.
?Matches, and lots of them, in a waterproof container. Even if the matches do not drop into a river, humidity can make them might more difficult to strike.
?Toilet paper. Though you should expect that camp site restrooms will keep ample supply of toilet paper, do not bet your embarrassing discomfort on it. And if you are at a camping area that does not happen to provide toilet facilities, you - the adventurous one - might find it thrilling to make do with leaves. But you will be the only one. On second thought, if the camp site does not have toilets, look for another.
?If you bring any canned foods, do not forget the can opener. Having done that once in the woods myself, it was not a fun-reinforcing experience. And I was hungry…
?A basic first aid kit.
?Extra clothing. Especially if there is a forecast of any rain.
EXTRA STUFF
Though certainly not comprehensive, here are a few additional items to consider bringing along in order to help make your time in the woods a positive experience for everyone. The more you bring on the trip, the more you may feel like you are simply dragging your home life into another environment. So you must weigh the balance.
?Bear in mind that you are headed for the woods, not a hotel. Bring soap, shampoo, towels, and other bathroom items that you might ordinarily expect to find supplied to you elsewhere.
?Similarly, if you are most comfortable sleeping on a pillow, bring one or more.
?For family members who need corrective lenses, bring an extra pair of glasses or contacts. If your primary items are lost, you do not want vision to be compromised in the woods.
?Camera, film (if using exposure film), camcorder, battery chargers, and binoculars. There are often beautiful memories you will want to capture from your visit with nature.
?Sun screen for warmer weather. Tree leaves will generally protect exposed skin in the woods, but rays do get through and you do not want to spend days 2 and 3 of your trip burned from the previous day’s activities.
?Pain relievers, antacids (consider, after all, what you are likely to be eating…), and medication that family members typically need.
?One or more sets of Walkie-Talkies. If anyone wanders off and gets lost, a means of communication may be critical.
?Kitchen comforts, such as snacks, coffee, dishes, plates, cups, baggies for food storage.
?Games and playing cards. Maybe even a football to toss around in open areas.
?TV guide. Ok. Maybe not…
The main point to keep in mind is that when you are camped out in the woods, most normal conveniences of the home are unavailable, so some family members could feel trapped. You can help to ensure the trip creates a very positive set of memories by respectfully taking all participants into account. You won’t regret it!

Taking a loan is easier these days when there is no dearth of lenders. It is the cost of the loan that counts a lot in well being of the borrower. Secured home improvement loan therefore is best suited for people who live on a limited budget and need to spare money for other expenses. Though one borrows secured home improvement loan mainly for renovation of home but the loan at the same time can be utilized for meeting various other expenses also.
Secured home improvement loan is given to borrowers on providing collateral to the lender. Any property like home, vehicle, jewelry, valuable papers etc serves well the function of collateral. Borrowers should note that greater loan and other terms-conditions including bargaining for reduced interest rate depend a lot on collateral. In case greater loan is the requirement, lenders seek high value collateral like home because generally it has higher equity in it which secures the loan more.
Lenders usually provide secured home improvement loan in the range of ?5000 to ?50000. They will go for evaluating equity in the collateral if greater loan is to be offered. The loan is given at lower interest rate because of its secured nature. With little efforts interest rate can be brought down. To do so first ask for the loan amount that is below the equity. If you boast of sound financial standing or a good income source, lenders will readily offer reduced interest rate. The loan is given for a convenient repayment period ranging from 5 to 30 years. The borrower thus can chose duration of paying back the loan as per his repaying capacity. If he needs to save money for other expenses, larger repayment term is preferred as outgo towards monthly installments is reduced.
Bad credit is no hurdle in getting secured home improvement loan as the loan is already well secured through collateral. So people who have faced CCJs or bankruptcy should apply for the loan without hesitation. However a good credit is always a plus point in taking loan at better terms. It would be wise if easy debts are paid and as a result some improvement is shown on credit score, before rushing to the lender.
In order to avail secured home improvement loan at low cost, the loan should preferably be applied online. This way numerous loan offers come your way and you can choose suitable package containing lowest possible interest rate.
Secured home improvement loan goes a long way in making you financial stronger as you complete necessary work at low cost. Make sure to pay off the loan in time to avoid incurring of debts.

Although the round diamond shape is the most popular shape of all there are many fascinating and beautiful alternatives.
Use this list to familiarize yourself with the top 10 diamond shapes before deciding to buy a diamond ring. For illustrated examples of all these shapes see the Diamond Ring Tutorial in the resource box.
Asscher
Named after the Asscher brothers of Holland at the turn of the 20th century, this square diamond shape has an almost octagonal appeal.
Cushion
If you want to be a little different, this is the shape for you. Cushion shaped diamonds can be almost square or slightly elongated giving a soft pillow shape.
Emerald
Emerald shapes are normally cut to a rectangular outline but some can be cut more square. Get advice from the supplier regarding length to width ratios.
Heart
Regarded by many as the most romantic of all the shapes, skilled cutting is necessary to maintain the diamond’s brilliance due to the complexity of the shape.
Marquise

There is nothing more painful than a non-reciprocal relationship. I know I’ve been there too. If you aren’t careful, it can really crush any self-esteem you may have.
So why does this happen?
Well, a lot of us bought into the whole Disney fairytale dream of a prince/princess. Yada. Yada. Yada. And so we seem to rush a lot of our relationships because we want to get to the fairytale ending. We want love. We want romance. We want the storybook finale. So its obvious right? We’ve got to stop this type of thinking. We’re shooting our own selves in the foot.
And while I’m not saying this is the case all of the time — there are commitment phobic men out there for sure! I am saying that sometimes men are so fearful of putting a title on things because we want to marry them right after 5 great dates.
Back to the question….Why Doesn’t He Love Me?
Well there could be a variety of factors going on.
1. He does love you, but doesn’t want to commit right now.
2. He doesn’t know what love feels like, you’ve got to give him more time.
3. He has a life plan and while spending time with you fits in it — mandatory relationship talks does not!
4. Your pushing too hard and he’s scared. OR…he is seeing other women and knows better than to suck you into his web of lies.
I know what you’re saying… which answer applies to me? Well, that is difficult for me to say — you are going to have to dig deep and listen to your own instincts. Because I think you already know the answer. But if you need verification…I always recommend that you go to the source.
Much Success!

Cruise Port of Call: Docking at Key West
History
Key West is the southernmost point in the continental United States, and it is as well know for Ernest Hemingway as sunset celebrations. It was originally settled by the Spanish, who calle the island ‘Cayo Hueso’, which means Island of the Bones, as the treacherous reefs nearby sank many ships before the lighthouse was erected. When the English came in, ‘Cayo Hueso’ evolved into Key West. Many famous artists and writers have called Key West home, including Ernest Hemingway, Thornton Wilder, Robert Frost, Tennessee Williams and James Audubon. The island declared its independence as the “Conch Republic” in 1982 to protest a federal roadblock which blocked the one access road - US 1 - to Key West. That certainly raised media attention enough to stop the government, but to this day, many islanders still fly the ‘Conch Republic’ flag.
Things to Do
There are no real beaches to speak of in Key West - the shoreline is quite rocky - but if your are interested in enjoying the water, there is still plenty to do. Adventure-lovers can book shore excursions (or independent trips) which include sailing, kayaking, fishing or snorkeling, or book a ride on a catamaran, schooner or glass-bottomed boat. There is plenty to see for the landlubbers, including beautiful architecture, plenty of museums, shops and famous saloons, such as the original hangouts of Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffet. Of course, don’t miss the sumset celebration at Mallory Square!
Getting Around
Key West is walking town, and just about everything you would want to see is just a short walk from the dock. There are also tram tours (like the non-stop Conch Tour Train), the Old Town Trolley, which makes 9 stops, the bus system (two buses continually run around the island - one clockwise and the other counter-clockwise) and taxis if you would prefer not to walk. You can also rent a scooter if you are feeling a bit more adventurous.
Weather
Key West’s laid-back lifestyle matches its subtropical weather.?Temperatures here range from about 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Enjoy your day ashore at Key West!

If you are looking for fine Italian wine and food, consider the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy. You may find a bargain, and I hope that you’ll have fun on this fact-filled wine education tour.
Trentino-Alto Adige is located in the center of Italy’s northern border. It touches both Switzerland and Austria. Among its tourist attractions are the Dolomite mountains, called “the most beautiful work of architecture even seen” by the famous architect Le Corbusier, glacier lakes, and Alpine forests. In fact the region is composed of two parts, Trentino in the south and Alto Adige in the north. Alto Adige belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire for centuries, where it was known as S?dtirol. Like many other parts of Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige was often invaded. Unlike most other parts of Italy, this area is officially bilingual; a sizable portion of its population about 925 thousand is German speaking.
Trentino-Alto Adige has plentiful forests, and the hillsides are covered with fruit trees. This is Italy’s major apple-producing region. Only about 15% of the land can be cultivated. Agricultural products include corn, wheat, oats, barley, and rye. In addition to beef and dairy cattle, mining and manufacturing are prevalent.
Trento is the administrative center of Trentino and Bolzano is the administrative center of Alto Adige. Both are tourist towns. Trentino was the site of the Council of Trent lasting almost twenty years in the middle of the 16th Century with a major impact on the Catholic Church. Both these cities, and many others in the region, have numerous churches and secular sites of interest to tourists.
Trentino-Alto Adige devotes about thirty thousand acres to grapevines, it ranks 16th among the 20 Italian regions. Its total annual wine production is about 25 million gallons, giving it a 14th place. About 55% of the wine production is red or ros?, leaving 45% for white. The region produces 8 DOC wines. DOC stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata, which may be translated as Denomination of Controlled Origin, presumably a high-quality wine. A whopping 79.1% of Trentino-Alto Adige wine carries the DOC designation, by far the highest percentage in Italy. Trentino-Alto Adige is home to almost four dozen major and secondary grape varieties, about half white and half red.
Widely grown international white grape varieties include Gew?rtztraminer, Pinot Bianco, often called Pinot Blanc outside of Italy, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, often called Pinot Gris outside of Italy, Sylvaner, and M?ller-Thurgau. In fact, some say Gew?rtztraminer originated in the Alto-Adige town of Termeno, known as Tramin in German. Italian white varieties include Nosiola, and Moscato Giallo, Trentino-Alto Adige’s version of the international Moscato (Muscat) grape.
Widely grown international red grape varieties include Pinot Nero, called Pinot Noir outside of Italy, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The best known strictly Italian red varieties are Schiava, Lagrein, Teroldego, and Marzemino.
Before reviewing the Trentino-Alto Adige wine and cheese that we were lucky enough to purchase at a local wine store and a local Italian food store, here are a few suggestions of what to eat with indigenous wines when touring this beautiful region.
Start with Ravioli della Val Pusteria, Rye Pasta with Spinach and Caraway Seeds. Then try Gulasch de Manzo, Beef, Potato, Onion, and Paprika Stew.
For dessert indulge yourself with Krapfen Tirolesi, Fried Pastry with Marmalade and Powdered Sugar. Did you notice that these specialties seem as Austrian as Italian?
OUR WINE REVIEW POLICY While we have communicated with well over a thousand Italian wine producers and merchants to help prepare these articles, our policy is clear. All wines that we taste and review are purchased at the full retail price.
Wine Reviewed
Concilio Pinot Nero Reserva 2002 12.5% alcohol about $15
I’ll start by quoting the marketing materials: “Pretty aromas of strawberry, pepper and earth lead to flavors that are soft and velvety. Good varietal characteristics demonstrated here in ths light-to-medium bodied, long finishing wine. Match to a grilled salmon or tuna.
And now for my thoughts. This wine has a cherry and tobacco nose and is mildly acidic. It tastes of tobacco. The wine is round, mouth-filling and somewhat robust. It is a bit older than most of the wines in this series, and frankly, it shows. Like many Pinot Noirs, it tasted of earth.
Once in a while I follow the producer’s suggestions. I felt this Pinot Noir was an excellent accompaniment to a grilled Atlantic salmon with steamed asparagus. The fish brought out the wine’s fruit flavors, and the wine did a great job of cutting the fish’s fattiness. I still remember the first time that I drank a Pinot Noir (Oregon, I believe) with salmon at the suggestion of a excellent fish restaurant. It’s a great combination when both the fish and the wine are high quality. I ended this meal with almond milk chocolate, washed down with a bit of wine. This latter combination is not classical, but the result was more than satisfactory.
My next tasting included beef stew and potatoes, zucchini and onions in a tomato sauce, and a commercially prepared moderately spicy “Turkish” salad based on red pepper, tomato, and onion. The wine was round, mouth-filling, a bit complex. The dominant taste was tobacco. But I was disappointed, the wine was short.
Asiago is a cheese whose characteristics differ widely depending on where it is made, and its aging. I happen to love a local Asiago that my neighborhood supermarket carries once in a while. It is relatively sharp. I am told that Wisconsin Asiago cheese typically has butterscotch undertones. The imported Asiago tasted with this wine was nutty and pleasantly acidic, but frankly not as good as the local version. The cheese brought out the earthy characteristics of the Pinot Noir. Interestingly enough, the wine immediately changed its flavor and became more acidic in the presence of a commercially prepared roasted butternut squash dip.
In a close call, my initial reaction was not to purchase this wine again. Then I changed my mind, I would purchase it again, but be quite careful in pairing the wine. There is a simple solution, serve it with a grilled, preferably Atlantic, salmon.
Levi Reiss has authored or co-authored ten books on computers and the Internet, but to be honest, he would rather just drink fine Italian or other wine, accompanied by the right foods. He teaches classes in computers at an Ontario French-language community college. His wine website is www.theworldwidewine.com http://www.theworldwidewine.com .
